In MY opinion-the MT show didnt make me FEEL like i wish I was there. Thats not bashing it, its just MY opinion. Amsterdam made me wish i was there! Berlin last year made me wish i was there.
Normally when I see setlists from other shows, I'll judge it by the start of the set and the feeling I get from seeing it "on paper" as SPEEDY put it. The opener sets the tone. I mean, lets be real here-I wish I could be at EVERY pearl jam show JUST because thats my band. But when i know i cant be, I try not to torture myself and get depressed like others do when they cant be there. So i follow the set and if Im not feelin THE FLOW about it......its easier to deal with not being there.
The whole MT show along with the trip is not one that really ever got my attention. At one point it did but that was just because i would have got to see a lot of my friends who were making that trip. I dont think the setlist last night was crap at all. I love that set! It was a good mix. You (in general) cant ALWAYS have collectors edition rarities at every show you know? And the crowd? Well, the boys knew what they were in for so it was no surprise. Im sure the greatest surprise was them seeing REAL fans on the "regular non VIP rail" And as for people saying MT was the best show they've ever been to in 30+ shows........I think everybody says "it was the BEST" after EVERY show just because the energy you felt when you walked out all sweaty and voiceless!
some good points!
other than say amsterdam 2(which i didnt see) and toledo 2004(did see) the best show is always the last show i've seen live...approaching 50shows next year
glad the band said the money was for their charities
