Yeah, well... MT was incredible is all I'm saying. Guess you had to be there. Just surprised anyone would prefer this corporate sellout show with 19 songs over MT. I don't see what's better about the set list either... Heavy on Ten songs... I mean, matter of taste of course, but I don't see how it warrants the mocking comparison, especially with 1 three song encore. :? I'd be pissed about that if was expecting a full show. And I find it hard to imagine that the crowd was that great (huge understatement).

I dont think the crowd was great tonight but.......we all kinda KNEW they wouldnt be since its not a 'real' show. I dont doubt MT was incredible IF you were there. How can it not be? Tonights set was great for me because im all about the rockin songs and not the slower ones. And ok, i'll admit it-i love tonights SHORT set because it consisted of EVEN FLOW and Porch. :D EVERYBODY knows im about THE FLOW. Those songs NEVER get boring no matter WHAT all you piss break people say! MT hadd NO FLOW :D

    On paper...

If I take tonights setlist and add 6-7 songs...
    Sad
    Red Mosquito
    Spin The Black Circle

Then for the sit on the chairs people....I add
    Footsteps
    Hard to Imagine

    Then I throw in...
    Immortality
    Smile

All of a sudden Tonights Setlist is EPIC!!!! Epic I say!!!!!

    To make Montanas setlist Epic...
I would have to start by SUBTRACTING 12-13 songs....

    Just my opinion...

Well, I don't think ANY PJ song is a piss break!! I would be happy with pretty much any setlist! So i guess for me the defining factor would be the energy of the show, since any setlist would necessarily rock my world. That's cool you heard 2 songs you love so much though! I personally like Even Flow. I don't know why some people dislike of so much (but hell, I kind of like Just Breathe, too! It's romantic.). :)

I can say absolutely, however, that I'm happy I am not at Oracle... I'm one of the people who thinks it has a pretty heavy ick factor to it. I am kind of glad to see it was so short. Less ick that way. ;)

Will there be a fanviews thread? :?

    It was a fantastic night.

I went with my runnin' crew from Montana (which includes RYZEup ... (btw, she was runnin' a fever of 102 earlier in the day and she rocked her ass off all the way through X ... what a freakin' trooper) ... we were on the first shuttles over to the venue ... ran to the rail ... only to see that there was a VIP section blocked for the the Deloitte sponsors, about 10-12 rows. Eh, whatever, 10 rows back is better than no show.

Kings of Leon ... started bold with some of the older tunes, Mollys Chambers and Taper Jean Girl come to mind. then it was about 7 straight slow songs that just sucked the life out of the joint. By the time they started playing better tunes, such as Knocked Up ... they had lost me.

Then Ed came out and we were all thinking Slow Night So Long ... but, we got The Bucket. Didn't feature Ed as much as SNSL ... but, still cool. Then back to the shitshow, the ladies went berzerk over Sex on Fire ... Black Thumbnail to close ... and whew, done ... bring on PJ.

Have to admit, I was the debbie downer stating they would mail it in and just play 2/3 of the Missoula setlist ... thankfully, they proved me wrong!

Do The Evolution to start was brilliant as an opener ... it also got 3 lingering old folks off the rail with a quickness, which I appreciated.

Given To Fly was dedicated to the US Women's Soccer team ... three of the ladies were in attendance (Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, and Kelley O'Hara) ... sadly, they only tweeted KOL pics ... https://twitter.com/AbbyWambach/status/ ... to/1/large
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A4VqTR5CcAA5Ehi.jpg

Ed had an exchange during Better Man with someone in the VIP section (perhaps one of the soccer ladies?) ... he basically told someone, jokingly mind you, they should stop singing ... "No really, quit ... while your ... ahead." ... again, said with jest.

Mike came over to our side of the stage a few times, but you could see he was a bit perturbed with the lack of interest in the VIP section (well, duh). 95% of those VIP fuckers were lame as shit. Their flashing, light bright, blue fedoras will haunt my dreams.

At one point (perhaps Even Flow) ... Ed jumped down and was trying to high five all the folks in the front row of the non VIP section ... got within 10-15 feet of center stage but then security shut it down and made him go back up on stage ... so close to a high five, but it was appreciated the he knew the folks that loved PJ most were just beyond the VIP section.

Green Disease was brilliantly placed within the set. A little joke for us PJ fans. Ed did state they were "getting paid" but said it was to fund other charitable projects the band supports (Perhaps making up for scoring a goose egg for the Montana Tester show? ) He did give a shout out to the Wounded Warrior program ... so, hopefully they saw a little action from tonight's proceeds as well.

Anyway ... got a lot of hits, but they were the great rockers we didn't get in Montana (Porch, Once, Down ... got Black as well) Super stoked that I was fortunate enough to go ... but, really wish they'd play a proper, FULL set here in San Francisco ... again, not since 2006.

X was the cherry on top ... slashing though songs as they only had an hour ... I felt like I was a punching bag of awesome. Capped off by Ed coming out for Devil Doll.

Gorgeous night, great music, free booze and grub ... and best of all ... my bay area PJ friends who rock my damn face off ... love all you fuckers to bits.

Thank you to Jeremys Spoken for updating the thread.

Encore 1: Betterman, Alive, Baba O'Riley

Cool! Now they better release this show in 24bit Flac HD.
  • Thanks again Jeremy's Spoken. I added Devil Doll with Ed and X to the first post just now. Being on the East Coast I could barely keep my eyes open by the end of PJ's set. No way I was staying up for X.

RYZEup: Thank you again for relaying and wow you are awesome! Being as sick as you were, still rocking out AND relaying?!? Wow! Awesome!

Seriously. Just really curious as to why people in this thread are trashing the Missoula show - calling it a goose egg, saying they'd rather have gone to this 19 song crap show where the crows was so lame it was bumming Mike out, and Ed had to make a point of excusing their very presence by sayjng they were donatng the profits, and 10c wouldn't even create a fan view thread. Meanwhile, many people are calling the Missoula show the best one they've ever been to in as many as 30 shows. Is this normal, or there some kind of weirdness going on because Oracle is controvercial and the 10c attendees are feeling uncomfortable? Are there just fanatical Green Disease fans here?? I don't get it...

The "goose egg" comment means they probably received no pay for playing in Missoula ... it was donated to Tester's campaign fund.

Shows like this Oracle show (where I assume they were paid handsomely) allow them to play gigs like that ... where their take home pay is a goose egg.

    That's what that comment meant.

I was at both shows, enjoyed the hell out of them both.

In MY opinion-the MT show didnt make me FEEL like i wish I was there. Thats not bashing it, its just MY opinion. Amsterdam made me wish i was there! Berlin last year made me wish i was there.
Normally when I see setlists from other shows, I'll judge it by the start of the set and the feeling I get from seeing it "on paper" as SPEEDY put it. The opener sets the tone. I mean, lets be real here-I wish I could be at EVERY pearl jam show JUST because thats my band. But when i know i cant be, I try not to torture myself and get depressed like others do when they cant be there. So i follow the set and if Im not feelin THE FLOW about it......its easier to deal with not being there.
The whole MT show along with the trip is not one that really ever got my attention. At one point it did but that was just because i would have got to see a lot of my friends who were making that trip. I dont think the setlist last night was crap at all. I love that set! It was a good mix. You (in general) cant ALWAYS have collectors edition rarities at every show you know? And the crowd? Well, the boys knew what they were in for so it was no surprise. Im sure the greatest surprise was them seeing REAL fans on the "regular non VIP rail" And as for people saying MT was the best show they've ever been to in 30+ shows........I think everybody says "it was the BEST" after EVERY show just because the energy you felt when you walked out all sweaty and voiceless!
