I know some stuff just hearing it here and there, but I don't know much. So what do you suggest?

  • Well I'd give his new solo album "Blunderbuss" a good listen. Then I'd probably check out the White Stripes "Elephant," then "White Blood Cells". Also the Raconteurs "Consolers of the Lonely." I'm a big fan of all his albums actually, but these would get you started.

Elephant, Consolers of the Lonely, and his solo disc Blunderbuss. That's a pretty good cross section of the total package imo.

    Di Stijil.
If that doesn't get you nothing will. An let's give some love to Meg.
  • i love how every single post is a slightly different suggestion...myself, Consolers of the Lonely (The Raconteurs) is my favorite Jack White project, followed by White Blood Cells (White Stripes) and Elephant (White Stripes). And Horehound is my favorite of the two Dead Weather Albums. Seriously though, Jack is pretty talented and diverse so give yourself time to check out everything.
We were but stones your light made us stars
  • I'd go one of each...

Elephant, Consolers Of The Lonely, Blunderbuss, and Horehound.

  • Has anyone heard an explanantion as to why he bolted at Radio City last night? He cursed at the crowd when he first came out (very garbled...couldn't tell if he was mad, joking, or just excited) and then mumbled "Thank you" a bunch of times along with some other stuff I couldn't make out at the end. By far - the worst show I have ever seen him put on. Not sure if he was sick, unhappy with the sound or what.

I'd be kinda surprised if he pulled it again, but I feel like he has a big enough ego to try it.

Nobody's sure of a reason yet, but he was complaining about the crowd, the number of scalped tickets and security supposedly said he wasn't satisfied with the sound. All of them sound pretty fucking lame though.

  • He definitely said "What is this a f***in' NPR convention?" when he hit the stage due to lack of crowd energy. Leading up to that point he had a band (Fern Turdknuckles and the Potted Plants) or something like that open for him. The lead singer was on Boardwalk Empire this season playing music in the early 1920's. That is what his band does.

I am sure they are fine guys and they can sure play...but ragtime folk music doesn't exactly get people on their feet. If you saw a clip of them and were told it was from an old skit on Late Night with Conan O'Brien you would believe it 100%.

The crowd was basically put to sleep for more than an hour (between the opening act and resetting the stage for Jack) and greeted with a garbled insult. Now 'Black Math' starts and is immediately slowed down and becomes indecipherable...crowd energy lulls again.

The rest of the show didn't sound great (save for an exceptional version of 'Take Me With You When You Go') but was just fine I suppose...I will still go to see Jack White when I have the opportunity but I will be taking the rest of this tour off.

If anyone goes tonight please provide the blow by blow here if you can.

I guess I'll just go through the discographies at this point. I really don't know how I missed these great tunes for all these years. But, better late than never, right? Well great show Friday in Boston.
You must have been on the floor, because it sounded like total shit every where else in that building (I know because out of sheer desperation I spent the whole evening searching for ANY place to stand that sounded halfway decent).

I will never ever ever EVER see another live show at the Aganis Arena in Boston. My ticket money was totally wasted. I wished I hadn't gone and just hung on to my memory of seeing him in Amsterdam at the Heineken music hall.

I could tell that the performance was good, but the house sound system was the absolute worst I've ever heard anywhere.

One set of PA speakers hanging high on either side of the stage, cranked too loud in order to fill a college hockey arena. The only thing that was produced was loud muddy noise. I couldn't understand one lyric.

Imagine the worst sounding bootleg on PJ radio, crank the bass all the way up, the treble all the way down and put the speakers under a coffee can, this would have sounded better.

    FUCKERS!

I have bought everything he has ever released and seen every act he has been a part of, and I was pissed when the show ended last night. I can't even imagine how the people felt at the Saturday show. Last night my girlfriend and I took a cab back to my place, watched multiple tv shows and went to sleep before a Bruce show would even finish .
