Yeah this looks awesome. Sounds great too. Kinda wish it was going to blu-ray as well (though I'm sure it eventually will) because it'll probably only be in select theaters. Personally, I just want the audio.
But a five year wait for this makes me shudder to think when we might see an Alpine Valley release.

Led Zeppelin fans hoping that the band would announce a new tour this week will have to settle for the next best thing: a theatrical release of their 2007 one-night-only reunion concert. Entitled Celebration Day, the film will be released on 1,500 screens on October 17th. The concert – taped on December 10th, 2007 at London's 02 Arena – will then be released on "multiple audio and video formats" on November 19th.

Magical Mystery Tour Blu-Ray
Zeppelin reunion show Blu-Ray
Give me Alpine and I'll be set.
Been waiting almost 5 years for this. There has been low quality Youtube clips since the day of the concert, and high quality multi angle, good sound Youtube clips too. This DVD and CD (I'll buy both) will be incredible!
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river
it's been a long wait. i'm most definitely looking foward to seeing this...the dvd & soundtrack will be cool...
tho as someone that's seen TSRTS 23 times on the big screen, i've got to see this one on a big screen too...looks like i'll be going to the big spaceship in BC to catch this
I was chaking out the set list from the Tours specially 75 the 1st time i saw them here at Nassau colliseum man they would only play like 14 songs and then in 77 i saw them again this time at the Garden they did a 6 night stand  and they basically played the same set every night give or take 1 or two song difference ..
No wonder PJ only does these 12 to 15 show mini tours ...But at least they never ever do the same set list

I'd say a major difference between PJ and Zeppelin is that PJ varied the set and LZ kept it the same. Because PJ varies the set, you'll find that the songs are kept closer to their originals or played basically the same way, with little variation between each time they are played. There is little room for improv when mixing the set up. LZ had a different approach. They extended and reworked the songs extensively. 5 minute songs became 10, Dazed & Confused, for example could go 20-30 minutes. What was really different was the tempo. Where PJ speeds up the tempo, LZ slowed it down. I's liken PJ to a microwave oven and LZ to a Crockpot. There are merits and pitfalls to both approaches. Both PJ and LZ are common to holding the rock and roll torch, going zilch on special effects and letting the music be the show, and having close to 3 hour, sometimes longer shows.

It's being released in theatres on 10/17, not just playing on that day, right?

I was guessing it would be one of those "one night only" digital broadcast showings, like the Metropolitan Opera House shows or the showing of the Foo Fighters documentary on a Tuesday. But since the DVD/Blu-ray release is still about a month after that (instead of the very next week), maybe it is a limited run.
i was lucky enough to be at this show and have been looking forward to this ever since

Check out Kashmir in it's entirety. Amazing audio. I'm glad now that I gave the audience recording just one listen and was done with it because it'll make this official release kinda brand new.

Downloaded the leak and it's pretty solid, but as a live album I don't think it's as amazing as alot of people are making it. Just some obvious flubs from one member or another(never JPJ) or certain parts trimmed back to simplify the tunes. Dazed nearly trainwrecks and Plant fucks up Whole Lotta Love of all tunes and there's small moments where you can kinda hear the whole band say "What the fuck?" musically. The guitar on In My Time of Dying and The Song Remains the Same are a little sketchy as well.
Still better than about any band can do these days, but it felt over-rehearsed and under-rehearsed at different moments throughout the show.
Just finished watching the bluray and I have to say thats it's incredible. The sound is amazing and the picture quality is very good. Also, Jason Bonham outdid himself. His old man would be proud.
Just got the Blu-Ray/CD set today. I thought Robert sounded fantastic. Like...surprisingly good. Jones is of course perfect. And I really enjoyed Jason too. It wasn't "Led Zeppelin with some other guy on drums" like Live Aid with Phil Collins. This really was Led Zeppelin. I thought he was great. As far as Jimmy goes, yeah some things were hit and miss. DewieCox is right to point to Dazed, In My Time, and Song Remains as under par. But that's okay. After all, it's a Celebration Day. All about fun.

Page was always someone that benefitted from playing a string of gigs, playing-wise. Considering this was a one-off gig and his first live performance for 5 years or so, I thought he was great. I disagree on IMTOD being below par, I thought it was incredible - Stairway was a bit sloppy though.
Its just a great, great release. Jason Bonham's album notes are great, shows how much the evening meant to him. A fitting way for such a great and legendary band to go out. After the terrible Live Aid performance, they were due one last great gig, and they certainly delivered that.

There was just no moment in IMToD that turned it up a notch where Page went for it. It was adequate, nothing more. I'm not gonna go through mistake by mistake and tear this apart, b/c Zeppelin were never about total perfection, but there was always something that kept it feeling really tight and there are probably a dozen cringeworthy moments here. There were moments on the album that just came off as sloppy. There are a few tunes that are just absolutely smoking, For Your Life and Kashmir particularly. As a whole it's just not as good as most people are claiming.
After a second listen, Dazed and Song Remains aren't all that bad. In My Time is just too slow and boring here. But I think Dazed is at least "to the point". No masturbating with the violin bow. They just played it with a lot of energy and got on with their lives. It's genuine. That's for sure.
Another thing I love about this album/video is that it's not edited (or at least appears not to be). Page kinda went overboard cleaning up How The West Was Won. But this was...again....genuine.

Rather than overanalysing the whole thing, why not just enjoy it for what it is - a one off gig which hasnt been overly edited or overdubbed, in order to capture the spirit of the evening. If you dont rate the gig, dont watch it. I dont recall any "cringeworthy" moments, as you put it - there's interviews with Page, Plant and Jones in this months Mojo magazine in the UK, and Page himself says that maybe he should've overdubbed a few guitar parts here or there. He also says that some things worked incredibly well, some didnt work, but it is what it is. Thats the way that I will be viewing it, and I think its absolutely brilliant for a one-off gig.
