  • The APR is so ridiculously flawed anyways. One of the years that set their rating so low was a year they had multiple transfers(scottie harrelson, jamaal trice, darius smith) and seniors who skipped april and may classes to train instead for the NBA draft. One GIANT flaw is that kids who are one and dones, are on campus for less than a year, and complete, what, 26 credits? I'm looking at you Kentucky. Where a kid like Jeff Adrien or Jerome Dyson who leave a month early but have successfully completed 110 college credits is penalized. BTW, uconn has only had one, one and done player and he was a lottery pickU this summer in the NBA draft.

Definitely respect him for his charitable work. But jeez would it kill him to graduate a kid once in a while? And with all due respect to the UConn grads it ain't exactly Harvard. I think the shady dealings of the last few years were just the tip of the iceberg.
Ask Emeka Okafor and Kemba Walker about graduating.
EASY (and I defended Jim and UCONN earlier in this thread)...
UConn's 25% rate — for players arriving from 2001-04, allowing them six years to graduate — was tied for sixth-lowest among 338 Division I men's programs.
Connecticut's graduation rate, meanwhile, hasn't topped 33% in men's basketball in the past six years.

Walker left UConn to enter the 2011 NBA Draft on April 12, 2011 - and didn't graduate - he was supposed to by finishing a few online classes and an internship - as of Jul 2, 2012 he has NOT: http://www.chacha.com/question/did-kemb ... from-uconn
Coach Calhoun is a legendary hoops coach, changed the Big East and had an amazing heart and effort towards charities for the Nutmeg State. That being said, graduating hoops players was not his strength...
And he is most definitely NOT a disgraceful coward as originally stated in this thread...
