they should have a chance to get into the studio in early 2013.....i think they'll all be off by then. RNDM will be done, Ed solo will be done and soundgarden has no dates coming up (maybe they do some shows to support king animal)
so...unless they decide to tour australia, it looks like they'll have ample time to get into the studio and finish up a record that'll be ready for a spring/early summer releasei have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status0 -

Not overly fussed that they are puttin the reissues on the backburner. They are definitely nostalgic and a cash cow in my eye. Much better to focus on a new record

This was exactly my thought! Just repress No Code! Don't even remaster it...just get it out there again at a price I can afford.
this!^^^
I just want the album, I can't really afford what the current prices are. Re-press now, and re-master and put it in a box set that I will buy later. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament sat down with Fuse's Yasmine Richard at Made in America festival this past weekend in Philadelphia to talk about Pearl Jam’s next album, being hand-picked by Jay-Z to headline day two of the festival and the Seattle band's longstanding political affiliations.
On Pearl Jam’s next album: We’re half way through, and we have a ton of ideas. It’s just a matter of everyone clearing enough space to finish it up. We’re going to do things as naturally as we can. It’s always worked better for us to take our time.
On being hand-picked to perform at Made in America by Jay-Z: We didn’t even know we were on his radar. We were honored that we were on his radar, and that he thought enough of us to ask us.
On whether they’ll support Obama in the upcoming election: I’d be willing to bet that every member will vote for Obama.
On when they'll reissue more albums: The plan was to do the next three records (after Vs and Vitalogy). But at the end of the Vs/Vitalogy ones, we were starting to feel a little whooped. It was starting to feel like we were a nostalgia band, and we wanted to keep focused forward. We’re going to move forward for a while, and maybe in a few years we’ll work on those records.
They've been halfway done for a long time.

What are they doing right now? Has anyone thought they might be in the studio at this moment! :think:07-09-95 Milwaukee, WI (Summerfest) - 10-08-00 Alpine Valley Music -06-16-03 St. Paul, MN - 09-03-11 Alpine Valley Music Theatre -09-04-11 Alpine Valley Music Theatre - 09-30-12 Missoula, MT - 07-19-13 Wrigley Field - 11-15-13 Dallas, TX - 10-3-14 St Louis, MO - 10-19-14 St Paul, MN0

This reminded me of the Commodore show in Vancouver (in 2000). I ran into a DJ from the radio station that was sponsoring the event (Jeff O'Neill). We were talking about Pearl Jam and he looked like he was on his way to being nicely drunk. He had told me he just met Jeff backstage. He then mentioned that Jeff had corrected him on the pronunciation of his last name. That it was "Eh-Ment" and not "ah-ment". The conversation completely went downhill after that, as he spent the next 5 minutes talking about nothing but how to pronounce Jeff's last name. lol.
I had forgotten about that until I read the posts in this thread about how to pronounce his last name. lol. Nothing like pulling up a long forgotten memory.0 -
Ya it's amazing how they have been half done for like a year now. Uh Jeff since when do things work better when taking your time? Your best albums were in the 90's when we got a new album every 2 years or less. Not now when we get a new album every 4 years. Since 2006 they have given us 30 minutes of new music that is Backspacer. Pretty pathetic production! Especially when you have 5 song writers!!! It comes across as lazy and just cashing in on these festivals. So ya you are becoming nostalga act!Summerfest 7/8/95

Well, I disagree with all the negativity here, but it did cross my mind that they used to bang out amazing albums in a matter of weeks in the 90s, doing these marathon sessions. However, I then quickly remembered that they and their lives are very different from when they were in the 90s, making my first musing moot. I also remembered that for a good chunk of the 90s when they were making albums that way, they were always on the verge melting down and breaking up. I assume, because Jeff said it, they are working on this album in a way that's right for them in the here and now, and most of what they do qith PJ is aimed at maming sure they don't burnout like they almost did back then. So awesome. Also, they do tons of stuff outside of PJ, which I completely respect and enjoy as well, so don't mind when that slows PJ work down.primussucks wrote:Ya it's amazing how they have been half done for like a year now. I did find it odd that Backspacer is so short though. I am one of the people who really likes Backspacer, but its brevity is its weakness. Oh, and Supersonic.
