the thing is,we cant do anything..if they dont wanna happen,is not gonna happen
i dont know whats the band's problem with it,i dont understand why is big problem to let this happen..
i dont get it,whats the big deal and they dont allow it..
would be cool to see this live from our pc..lets hope they wil let happen to one of the next show..
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
I keep a folder on my hard drive of live music concerts (mostly from the high def era). Lots of Foo Fighters, RHCP, AIC, Metallica etc... (even some soundgarden from their lolla).
Not much for PJ. My PJ folder is mostly songs from talk shows, snl. Maybe a few songs from a festivals highlights.
What I wouldn't give for PJ to let a complete performance on TV or the Web in HD. A little something to supplement the home dvd's we get every once in a while.
There's older ones like the pinkpops, gimli etc... but I want one in HD The best one is probably austin city limits one.. but its not quite the same.
Pandora - "Live stream loading" with a bunch of tweets... :?
Disable any sort of "ad blocker" you might be using and the real version of the page opens. There is a schedule and as expected no Pearl Jam listed for the Pandora stream.
"Populated with every reject and cutthroat from Bombay to Calcutta. It's worse than Detroit."
How about this idea: it is a live concert. If you want to see it buy a ticket. My opinion.
Well, there's a number of arguments and counter arguments you can put up, so let's discuss shall we? It's not so simple as your opinion.
There is clearly the technology available for them to do this - and with the number of shows they now play in a year, the demand is there, but this is a double edged sword. Make it available online for people who can't be there to watch and (1) if you charge for it, it's a whole new stream of income, however (2) you have a huge following that travels to see your shows - make it available online and that traveling contingent maybe starts electing to stay home and catch the shows from home... and maybe you sell less tickets... and then you've got a whole new problem...
Personally, I'd love to see them stream the shows online - because I'm fed up with shelling out large amounts of my hard earned cash to follow this band around... over the course of the last 5 years, i've easily spent $6-8k travelling to catch them... enough is enough... especially when you show blatant disregard to the state I chose to live in ... A state which has 3 of the largest cities in the country - one of which has the best economy in the country, which directly translates to more money in pocket to spend on non-essential entertainment choices. But that's a different rant.
The other side of the coin is that setting up to stream live video themselves is a huge technological investment - and this band also clearly has issues when it comes to technology.... however I can't understand why they wouldn't utilize the service when it's set-up for them - especially if they can write simple clauses in the contract like "No cutting Ed's editorial comments" or "only shoot boom from the waste up"... .... let's be honest, a lot of pop artists get away with this kind of crap... why can't PJ? It seems like a real slap in the face to the hardcore fans that the band knows that they have, who simply can't be in Philly this weekend for one reason or another...
I don't know... it just seems that if the band had any desire to stay relevant in the music scene they'd be all about something like this... but hey they don't seem to be interested in being relevant anymore... that's just my opinion anyway...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
I do not think it is viable for them to webcast every show. BUT when there is ALREADY a cast going on. Why the hell turn the camera's off? How does that benefit them?
"To all the fans around the world and country that want to see us headline this big festival.... too bad for you."
In the end I guess they just didn't want a shitty webcast of it going out (yes, it is a fairly shitty webcast). And that is fine with me! If I want to see a live show, well, I'll go the show. Anything less doesn't really cut it.

Agree that is weak to "stop" the webcast when PJ comes on. What were the planning to say that would get edited out, anyway?? Let the fans have A chance to enjoy the set.
Bands like Phish have many of their shows webcast in HD and it is brilliant. It's 2012, technology allows your fans to watch over the Internet. It's a chance to make more money to support Nader! Make it happen!
There are times when it isn't necessary to be controversial......

I don't think this has anything to do with being controversial. They just don't want other people braodcasting their shit. They are not exactly the band to consider what other bands are doing, and Ed is pretty anti-technology, so i hear, so likely doesn't give a shit. Theyikely oy want their shows to be experienced live. They have always been into the live show experience as in a really being there rather than having it minimized by a webcast, so I actually find it odd that anyone is surprised by this at all. I respect their decision.

PJ soul...I just think the band can use a collective enema and lighten up a bit.
It's a holiday weekend....53 other bands in this festival had no problem being part of the webcast. if PJ doesn't want a 3rd party to broadcast the show (for reasons I don't understand), get a crew and webcast it yourself. I'm not surprised at all....it just think it stinks for the fans, like me, who are 1500 miles away and would gladly pay to watch the webcast.

But the Pandora link doesn't work for those outside the USA.
Pandora also does not list PJ's performance on the schedule. Guess we'll have to wait until people start uploading their videos from the show on YouTube.

Yeah, fair enough. I'm just tryig to point out all the reasons why they made this decision because several people have expressed confusion as to why they did (and I happen to think it's a reasonable decision).
I also wonder how bands necessarily see it as positive... PJ's fan base go to pretty great lengths to come to their shows. Why would they want to start steaming them so that less people feel that drive to actually attend?
Anyway, doesn't bug me obviously! I'll watch the fan vids in youtube later and look forward to the live show.

It is pretty funny to watch the crowd during these Odd Future fellas. You can tell the PJ fans in the crowd because they have about as much excitement watching this performance as they do waiting for the bus. I have no idea who this group is, I am getting old.

I was just watching the webcast. Watching it actually makes me happy that I'm not there. Saw some moshing going on in front of a stage..just not my idea of a good time at all....don't like the music and would hate to have to stand through all that just for PJ...

Exactly! Its a festival sponsored by Budwieser!
Ed doesn't like technology? What kind of corny BS is that?

I don't know. Ask Ed I guess. He won't even use email if he can help it, so i doubt webcasts are his thing! He's all about the live show. Not streaming them onto tiny screens.

Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
A big part of my passion for the band is the fact that they will always do what the "f" they want to do regardless of if it makes sense to outsiders or not. For whatever reason they are choosing not to be streamed, I support it.

whoever gets this tightly wound up about not being able to see a concert they aren't attending anyway is nuts...period
How do you know how tightly wound he is? We're just disusing here. Relax.
We can't normally watch any shows live from home, so why care if we can't watch this one live either? I don't get it.
