REmeber that time in 2007 when AT&T was supposed to air their set from Lollapalooza and then edited out Vedder's rant about Bush?

they have not done a webcast since, as they don't have the technology themselves and are not in control of the situation... and unwilling to trust others outside of their camp...
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
  • Their performance is being broadcast through iheart radio. No visual, but at least we get audio.

More like we get paid to play your festival, however there's not extra $'s in it to do the webcast and we also have no control of how you edit our performance for the masses...

    Bitten once, twice shy...

Yeah but they had had a number of successful webcasts up until that one.

    Seems kinda wuss-dog to me...
  • It's just how they are. They are very protective over visual broadcasts and such. They only allowed the last 3 songs from the Isle of Wight festival to be broadcasted when they could have had a lot more if they wanted too. Didn't PJ also turned down the propsed dvd for the spectrum shows?

But we know how this band is... they want to be in complete control of their music/art/performance... and giving that power to the people outside of their camp who have the ability to pull it off is not something they're going to do... just the way it is...

I agreee it would be super cool if I could sit down with a beer from my house tonight and watch PJ live on my 46" TV with my bitchin' internet connection... but I know it's not going to happen... I'll have to settle for the relay thread...

Not expecting any earth shattering performances tonight anyway... there will be a few rarites thrown in there (maybe 2 or 3), but you're going to get a very standard, mass appeal PJ set list tonight due to the fact that (1) There's going to be a lot of non-PJ fans in the crowd due to the fact it's a JayZ festival with a lot of rap and Eddie will want to appeal to this "different" crowd and (2) the performance is being filmed by JayZ/Budweiser for a DVD/movie, so they're going to want the mass appeal stuff... It'll be a night with a 9 min+ version of Evenflow.

Yeah yeah yeah, its still bizarre if you ask me. How hard is it to say, "Yeah, we'll do the cast, just dont edit us like ATT did." The control of their "music" argument doesn't hold much water when they have done broadcasts before with no issues.

P.S. A 9+ minute evenflow is not what these people want. More like the 3 minute version, onto Alive and Jeremy.

Seems totally reasonable to me. J don't see why they should want to have something aired that they have absolutely no control over, especially if they're concerned that they could be edited, but even if they weren't. We all know that they find having total control over their own work is VERY important to them (for good reason), so this doesn't surprise me at all. Plus, as always, there could also be something that we don't know about that's also aided their desire not to have these other people they have no relationship with film and broadcast their show. At any rate when they were burned by ATT, they probably simply vowed to never let others film and broadcast their show again, and you can't blame them. No reason to expect them to break their own rule now. Obviously. Plus, have you seen the other webcasts? They're actually quite poorly shot. Bad cuts, bad angles.

Their performance will be on YouTube in no time. We can all watch it then. :) Plus I guess some Ron Howard thing is being made. I'm not sure why people care about this.

Agreed it's not what they want... but it's what they're going to get because this band has to appeal to it's core fan base that is actually there, and putting off a 9+ minute version of Evenflow is a good way to do it - it's evenflow, so it keeps the masses involved, regardless....

Depends on who you ask... I'm not big on evenflow personally - I'd prefer a 9+ minute porch, RTIFW, or RVM... but tonight I have a feeling it will be E/flow. :ugeek: :D

well, why don't you just spell out their entire setlist then. you have no way of knowing. yes, it's a fest. so, yes...the set will be shorter. does that mean that it'll suck? um...no. not at all.

This one IS super crazy. What better way to stay relevant all over the world, sell more records, show you are one the best live bands ever, than a webcast. The maddening thing about it is they have done it before and it was great. Lets see there was a House of Bluse show that was cast, A festival in London, Ed Sullivan Show... Lolla of course, which everyone seems to be point to as the reason they arent doing another webcast. OK, how about a broadcast on PJ Radio, their own station? I would pay some money to see a quality HD stream of shows. They finally came around on live videos as there is no way to stop it.

So whats the deal here? I really hope they can figure out a way to do it that makes them happy again for some future shows. It's leaving revenue on the table....

And another thing... Its already set up! Its streaming right now, but for whatever reason they have to turn it off when PJ takes the stage? :? Craziness...

why cant i just watch the show live...youtube afterwards isn't the same

its such a silly reason to stop showing their concerts ..get over it and let your fans see you

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. Every song will have a vid posted to YouTube anyways. Crappier videos than what could be streamed...

    Oh well. I'm not surprised

Give up control? They are playing a festival for Jay Z sponsored by Budweiser.

Unless this is gonna be someone streaming from their laptop of some BS, there is nothing official on iheart radio.
