WOW... I cant say i'm surprised but... WOW, the country is its own worst enemy. Maybe Americans would find China a more suitable country to live in. I mean America is a communist country disguised as a democracy. I would rather be told that up front like the Chinese than lied to by my government and told my vote counted which really doesn't. According to this video it seems that a vote for Dr. Paul is a wasted vote which is really sad because he seems like the only real democrat the states have who says what he believes and believes what he says. Sad, scary, sad. Happy and proud to be a Canadian, even our dollar is worth more today than the "richest"/"greatest" country on earth's dollar. How is that even possible? We are just a polite, cold, meager little country compared to our big brother to the south.

this is video of them actually having the RESULTS OF A VOTE THAT HAD NOT TAKEN PLACE SCRIPTED ON THE TELEPROMPTER.

jesus christ. I tried, I tried to get involved with this sham of a party this year simply to try to get some sanity into the caucus rooms. To try to convince some people that worrying about what other's do in their private lives should be so low on the list it should be invisible...but sadly, this will be my first and last caucus with the GOP. What was the point if they were simply going to change rules to get the guy the RNC wanted? what was the point of having a year long campaign?

Fucking joke, and I am pretty sure a lot more than Ron Paul supporters are going to walk away from this convention with a bad taste in their mouths. Those who do get involved understand how shady it has been, they have burnt a lot of bridges, roughly 2-5 million of them and that could win or lose them the election. Great planning dip shits

The whole political process is sham anymore...the amount of money spent on the elections by all sides is just ridiculous...

What happened to Ron Paul and his delegates is a disgrace. The RNC is a bunch of chicken shit monkeys desperately trying to cling on to their power structure. They couldn't even give two shits about the voices of the people in their OWN PARTY.

Andrew Sullivan was on Colbert the other day and said something I found interesting. He calls himself a conservative but really wants Obama to win the election in hopes that it cause the Republicans to concede that their current practices (you fill in the blanks) aren't working, and they'll have to move back towards the center.

I am sliding that way as well. Considering deficits and spending won't be all that different under Romney, might as well show them that the neo con bullshit is no longer going to win elections

Romney spoke of liberty and opportunity, yet they wouldn't allow the name of any Romney opponents to be spoken during the roll call. If that is how the RNC treats their higher-ups, imagine how they would treat others if they are in control!

Don't know why I'm bothering, but.....I'm curious where you're getting this from. The USSR would have moved into Canada 75 years ago? And even if that was true.....Canadians were incapable of defending themselves, and no one else in the world would have come to their aid....eh?
    nyet.

    anyway....
That video was infuriating. I can't imagine how angry it would make me if it was my country, and I was a RP supporter. Watching it, I can't help but think of grand conspiracies; elites attempting to divide and conquer. Maybe it's more subtle than that - they just don't give a shit about anyone's opinion of the party. The GOP is eating itself alive. Good riddance....now if the Dems would just do the same...

nah....maybe a couple off topic comments, but I don't think this is lock-worthy.
But then maybe I'm getting jaded....sorry folks!
  • I'm no fan of Ron Paul but... you're right.

the way that they just walked in there with the whole thing planned, shut up any dissenters, had the vote tally before the vote began and then proceeded with a convention where they openly told lies in their speeches.

And let's point it out again.... the whole theme of the convention was based on a very obvious, very intentional and obtuse theme of "We Built That" when... well, no... they didn't.

AND when called on that, they said "we're not going to let fact checkers dictate our campaign."

Which sums up the whole thing. Truth, democracy, process and fairness didn't matter. What DOES matter is that thanks to citizen's united, the 46 people in America who have more money than the bottom 98% of the population have already bought and paid for a president who will screw over anyone and they clearly don't give a shit.

And since they only were able to buy one president... they bulldozed over every other challenger to get their way.

As in full circle? That would be interesting! But unfortunately the way things are going the only thing that will be circling both parties in the not-too-distant future will be buzzards.

    1) If you had any idea how juvenile you sound saying things like "odumba," you would understand why many people don't even want to associate with you or your party. You can add other bitter and whiney names like "the chosen one" or "the messiah" or "the socialist emperor." It makes you come off as the loser at high school picking on the football players, bitter because nobody likes them. And that's not a club anyone wants to join.

    2) Actually, you are kinda wrong. Demographics are rapidly changing. It's very clear that Republicans are desperately clinging to their old policies of "white rich people and fuck the rest of you," but that message is only selling to white people in the south and the midwest... and it's only selling to people over the age of 40. I didn't see a lot of teenagers cheering this week. A few, maybe. I saw a lot of older, fatter (sorry, but it's true) and defiant-looking white people who are both fuming that the world is changing around them and their place at the top of the heap is crumbling but also terrified of what will happen when being white middle class no longer gives them a head start. It no longer makes them special. No longer makes them better than... well, Barack Obama, Mixed-Race President of the United States.

This last convention screamed it out loud. This is the last gasp of the old guard. They can try to shove through as many anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-immigrant and anti-non-christian laws they want and the only thing they're doing is giving the people who will be in charge in 10 years a whole lot of pointless laws to get rid of. And they know it. They know they can't win with their policies so they poured millions of dollars into voter ID laws to combat the problem of "voter fraud" that isn't actually a problem. They pour a lot of time and money into wedge issues like my marriage and your daughter's uterus. Into my black friend's right to vote.

Giving the president another term isn't going to make the Republicans more conservative... it will make them finally eat shit and admit that yeah... they need to start to reflect the country as it is... not as it was. That's never coming back.

Then please enlighten me on the topic. Obviously you must be an expert so please share. :fp:
  • its not just one party thats currupt though, thats why 150 million people wont vote in november. Not because they are lazy, but because theres got to be a better candidate out there other than Obama or Mitt. I cant stand either. The democratic party is in shambles and is a joke. I dont feel any party represents me, and I know millions of others feel the same way. Its basically, on both accounts, millionaires battling it out. In many ways its inconsequential. Its not like obama and mitt are all that different. The wars going to continue, the environments going to continue to be degredated, the economy is going to get worse, people are going to continue to be tortured and warrentless wiretapped, and both candidates feel its our place to go around and force democracy down others throats via guns and bombs.

Im not voting for either. Im voting ron paul. Only man running who has integrity.

    nger to get their way.

I hear ya, but its both sides that do that. I voted Nader the last 2 elections, and he wasnt even allowed at the debates. It was great seeing Kucinich at the debates the last 2 elections but he was only allowed on there because he was a democrat. His policies, though i agree with him, are so left wing, the entire party just laughs everytime he spoke.

With nader, and any other candidate who differs from the party, whether you are going to vote for a 3rd party or not, I think its obscene the debates are so cut and dried. They as in other candidates not in the 2 party system, should be allowed to debate. I find them boring, in large part because the candidates rarely disagree radically on issues. When Mitt and Obama debate coming up, both are going to suggest terrorism is an issue, that we need to have gitmo open, that we need to fight terrorism and be engaged in wars, they will probably disagree on tactical issues, but the main point-the war and the validity and morality of it wont be discussed. And thats not representative of the american people and populace who overwhelmingly are opposed to the war. Thats why I dont identify as a liberal or democratic voter.

Debates and conventions should be open and all encompassing. It should be a place of debating ideas. The Democratic convention will be the same thing as the Republican.

Personally, electoral politics bores me. I dont think you change the system by voting in millionaires who by their very nature lie, cheat and steal.
  • We're going way off topic but all I was saying is that i think a lot of Americans are blind, deaf, and dumb to whats really happening in the government. I mean we dont have check points in Canada. Our Prime Minister wasn't appointed by a judge, we dont legislate laws that would make it next to impossible to vote (for black/poor people) so they can win elections, we dont invade other countries under false pretenses, we dont blame the current PM for the fuck ups of the last guy or woman, and I think, as a whole, Canadians have a much better memory (meaning we remember who started the whole fucking mess in the states...it was GWB and that evil "DICK" Cheney  ). The only one candidate I think would turn your shit around would be Ron Paul IMO and he is consistently belittled and ignored by his own party (there is a hidden agenda and unless you are part of the 1% your fucked. So a vote for Romney will help the rich but not the middle class. All that said, Canada isn't perfect but its a hell of a lot more "free" than the US. We are a peace loving country not a war mongering one. Anyone disagree?? Nuff Said.
