So what are everyone's thoughts on driving in and parking as opposed to SEPTA? I'd rather just drive myself, but I'm worried there will be zero parking anywhere close to the event in garages or lots if I roll in there around 6.

I am valet parking in my hotel and walking to the venue. I would suggest doing the same if youre within a mile walk.

I'm preparing for a cluster fuck and I'll get to town about 6 hours before you.

bestparking.com lists lots and garages in and around cities. They also have an app. I'm going to have a few lots in mind and hope for the best

I would guess 6 PM is kinda late to roll in and expect to easily get a spot.

    Just saying

I'll hopefully arrive early and park in the center city area- there are multiple garages all within a mile or so of the venue.

    Ppa.org should help.

I'm gonna attempt to drive down both days. I know of at least 2 parking garages that are open 24 hours. One holds 650 cars and is on 23rd and race. The other holds like 350 cars and is on 21st and the parkway. Maybe if I get there real early it won't get filled up. :?

There are a lot of really helpful replies here. Thank you!

I'm coming in from L.A. and staying near Temple University. I've never really used public transportation. I checked out the SEPTA website and I'm kinda confused but I might be able to figure something out.

My question for the Philly natives is, do you think I'm better off trying to use public transportation or renting a car and parking?

I would stay off the bus to get near the venue, but that is just me.

    1. Cab
    2. Subway if you are near Broad St stop and take it to city Hall. You can walk the mile from there.
    3. Check out the website and app for Uber. May be a good call after the show if its available and it will be much safer heading back to the Temple area. :corn:

OK, so different but related question...if you're staying at the Best Western Center City which is within the festival grounds at least street-closing wise, how are we supposed to get into the parking lot? :?:

I would just make sure to have a print out of your hotel reservation info., then you should be able to get into the closed off area to get to your hotel. I would think...

Ideally, it would be nice to park and take the shuttle from the Mann Center, however I am concerned that it is going to be a nightmare if you don't catch one of the first shuttle runs and traffic picks up after the festival AND Bruce.

I was thinking about bypassing the road closures by getting off at the Girard Avenue exit and making my way toward some of the garages around the festival site. Hopefully the earlier I get there, the better.

  • I live in Jersey but work in Philly. I am driving in around 3, and parking in Old City at the Ritz parking garage. Its a safe neighborhood with 24hr parking, and will probably be pretty empty on a Sunday night. Then we are grabbing a good beer at Eulogy before being stuck with InBev's menu, and grabbing a cab. Feel free to join us for a Belgian before some Run DMC!
