TAMPA, Fla. -- An ugly incident at tonight's GOP convention, via TPM:

An attendee at the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Tuesday allegedly threw nuts at a black camerawoman working for CNN and said “This is how we feed animals” before being removed from the convention, a network official confirmed to TPM.

It goes without saying that neither the RNC nor the convention organizers are responsible for every delegate and attendee. But the incident does not reflect well on a party that has extremely little support from the African American population. A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found that 94 percent of African Americans surveyed supported President Obama, versus 0 percent -- yes, zero percent -- who supported Mitt Romney.

I bet, if it happened, it was a democrat that did it.

I can't believe these are the news stories people go with, but then again, if you are trying to manipulate people I guess this is how it id done.

And even if it happened...and I like anyone else here doesn't actually know if it happened...how do we know the person throwing the nuts wasn't referring to the camera person as the "general media being animals"?

Actually, I would be surprized if you are right. Politics in America have gotten so fucking nasty... we're a joke... I mean, even to the point where Italy and Mexico look at us and say, "Those guys are a fucking joke."
I distrust BOTH Political Parties and the fucking lunatics that are mainstream in both. I had stong doubts in the past... but, from about 2002 til now, it rival's the crazy political shit you see in places like Egypt.
    ...
If America needs to be 'Taken back'... it needs to be taken away from Republicans and Democrats, first.

Yeah an "attendee" ... not enough info there
very well could be the opposing side or just some idiot

    On a more positive note...
    loved the speeches ...
very moving, brings some hope to the future of small business.
Loved the hands across America, made me cry.
And Ann Romney did a great job! Loved the story of their long marriage, most especially
the basement apartment and their first born. She was witty and sincere.

I liked seeing the success stories too of states that are turning it around.
A feel better night for me ...

what is Romney going to get done, specifically, for Small Business owners?

I ask because I have a few SB Owner friends (who are Republican), who do not have a clue, or much faith in Romney.

he will allegedly undo obamacare and lower taxes....

Cut taxes for rich people. Obviously your friends must be rich so they should vote for Romney. ;)

Undo Obamacare as already said, because why would SB owners have interest in helping their employees have health care?

Romney said he will undo the new gas mileage standards, so we can spend more and more money on gas in the next 10-15 years.

Cut funds to postal service, Amtrak & PBS - that should help 'em too.

Ban abortions & gay marriage - always a boon to SB owners.

    Does that help you? 8-)

I am encouraged by the simple fact he is a businessman and understands what
    small business owners face.

I believe Romney has policies that will encourage growth of business which is at the
    foundation of solving problems.

Our biz needs a good shot in the arm, like many do,
not more government taxes and regulations that hinder growth, even punish growth.
Lowering the corporate tax rate to 25% immediately from the current 35%
and eliminating the death tax, that is a double tax sounds like a positive move to
    encourage new hires.

none of this affects my friends' small businesses. They do pretty well, not great. Enough to sustain a pretty decent living. One has 5 employees, the other 7.

Im not sure how corporate tax rates or 'death tax' benefits them.

What benefits the micro small business, just like us, is an economy that allows larger businesses
to do well, it is the ripple effect. No matter what one's business is we need
other businesses doing well. We need people employed and spending.
We have lived through just the opposite and it is very easy to go under,
we have watched many competitors our size do just that.

Romney gets this and wants to encourage small business,
    those under 50 employees,to grow.
Those are the companies I need spending, buying their print work from us
for their conventions etc. We are all connected in business.

Your friends can benefit from Romney. All they have to do is donate about $250,000.00 to the Romney campaign and send their lobbists to Washington to bribe representatives to draft legislation that gives their business the edge over their competition... which Romney will gladly sign into legislation.
    That's how America works.

OR.... They can benefit from Obama - don't have a job, don't get a job. Live off others. Wash, rinse, repeat.

More important to take money from "rich" folk than it is to have a self sustaning economy that provides money to folks via JOBS!!!!!! (Hint: Governmental jobs are not self sustaining. They need add'l taxes. Just think - if everyone worked for the gov't you'd need a 100% tax rate just to pay salaries..... So, basically, you'd be paying your own salary. Though where that money would come from is anyone's guess).

Taking money to give money that is then not taxed is a recipe for success.....

I mean, I'd love to maintain my 6 figure salary and health care benefits and not have to do anything other than watch T.V. in my pajamas for 40 hours a week. It sounds like something only smart people do because you'd have to be a kind of a dumbshit to work, instead of living the life of luxury for free.

Based on your understanding, what are his specific policies that will help small business?

The corporate tax rate cut doesn't really apply to small businesses, since a majority of them pay out their profits to owners via salary, or pass the profits/losses through to owners in the case of s-corporations.

I got startled by a hard working young man the other day...
    who said ...

I should just quit my job, the government will take care of me

    :wtf:

what message are we sending to the new working generation?
take food stamps, live in the welfare housing, don't work...
    don't care.

Then I watch, listen to the speeches at the convention about hard working
past generations and what they thought our country was founded on.
Why their fathers came here, what they built.

This is ours and this is their legacy. I believe in that.

I am a small business owner. I am not ready to give up.
I care not who is rich, I just want my children to know hard work pays off
if for no other reason than self worth.

I believe Romney can bring jobs to those who have lost them.
If he does not make it into office I will hope our President can do
    much better.

And whomever likened Chris Christie to our wonderful John Candy who has left this world,
I will proudly say I dig them both! they both make me smile and in their own time
in their own way bring me hope. So I take them both very seriously.
Can you see the heart? :D

Who says they live the life of luxury? Living off the gov't is living off the gov't. The fact that 90%+ of households have a tv, microwave, etc. IS luxury to much of the world. So, why stretch the comment to me saying that folks that sponge sponge to luxury?

There are folks that need the support, and we as a civil society should provide it. But, as Giuliani proved, you CAN reduce welfare rolls by forcing folks to actually, you know, take a job.

Long Island's unemployment rate is above 8%, yet I go out to lunch and see lots have help wanteds posted on the building. I see a new Dick's Sporting Goods set to open in the fall with a large apply within sign. I wonder to myself - how can unemployment NOT be going down? Well, when it's more attractive to make a little less money with a lot less work, some folks are apparently taking it. Nobody's living luxurious off a fast food job or a floor job at a sporting goods store (or welfare programs). But, they'd be a lot more productive to society AND making more money AND our economy would be more self sustaining. Yet, somehow these jobs remain open. Why would that be? Oh, I know. It's not beneath some to take government payouts, but it is beneath them to take such employment.

Unemployment insurance should be a weigh station. It should not be a 99 week "permanent" vacation.

Let businesses thrive. Gov't cannot create a self sustaining economy where more and more folks get their money from the gov't either via welfare programs OR jobs.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
