Since both sides are always trying to attract the middle of the road folks in order to win, why don't we just start a party for the middle of the road folks?

Do we get to wear purple? 'cause if so, I could get behind this idea

When was an election decided by one vote in a non-swing state? Moreover, when has the popular vote been decided by one vote - ever?

This will likely never happen in a prez election, although Florida was decided by less than 600 "votes" in 2000. Really that election was decided by one Supreme Court Justice. But I digress... The electoral college by definition disenfranchises voters in non-swing states; we've been over this before. Do you need me to link to the National Popular Vote thing yet again?

    BUT
There are times when a single vote has made a difference. A few years ago control of the PA State House hinged on a single election in the West Chester area, and I seem to recall the difference in the vote was one vote, at least some point in the counting. So some person in West Chester single-handedly determined who had control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

I agree that the two-party system blows and it would be nice to have some more options. That doesn't mean I want Italy's system with 22 political parties and a new government every six months. It's a beautiful country, until election season when gawdy pictures of old guys are plastered all over the place saying "vote for me! vote for me!".

If more people were to do it instead of being brainwashed into thinking there are no other choices then yes. It's not a quick process, but, it can happen over time. Baby steps.

 You don't see things my way, so you're brainwashed.

What makes you think I think Ru Paul is the answer?

I don't think that is what he meant at all, I think he was referring to people being brainwashed into voting for the lesser of two evils and that the way to vote is based on who you are against...That is a common thought by many voters. It is seen in the way that people discuss politics...they discuss the other guys issues that they don't like rather than telling people what they do like about their candidate.

I think he is the answer simply because he is one of the few people who have ever run for president that didn't WANT the power...hope that makes sense

Thanks for picking up my slack, Mike
