You all see this? Barret Martin from Mad Season has a new project that has some contributions from Mike:

http://grungereport.net/?p=13506

Walking Papers is a new blues-rock band formed by Jeff Angell and Barrett Martin, two long-serving veterans of the Seattle music scene. Jeff previously sang and played guitar for the bands Post Stardom Depression and The Missionary Position, and Barrett, a drummer and multi-instrumentalist, played for grunge pioneers Skin Yard and Screaming Trees, as well as the super groups Mad Season and Tuatara…

This debut album features a stellar cast of additional musicians who have each added their unique musical voice to the album: Visceral bass lines from Duff McKagan (Guns & Roses, Velvet Revolver), blistering guitar solos from Mike McCready (Pearl Jam, Mad Season), elegant keyboard stylings from Benjamin Anderson, and soulful horn arrangements from Dave Carter (Trumpet), Dan Spalding (Baritone Sax), and Ed Ulman (Trombone). The album was recorded by Catherine Ferrante at Avast Studios in Seattle, and mixed by Jack Endino at Soundhouse in Seattle. Mastering was done by Chris Hanzsek at Hanzsek Audio. The album will be released on October 2, 2012.

Walking Papers show on their debut album that a great song can be conveyed through percolating marimbas, vibraphone, piano, and trumpet, just as easily as it can with thundering drums, bass, and a howling guitar solo. The songs on this album stand alone as individual stories, but taken together as a whole, they tell a much larger narrative that conveys the tales of wandering souls, the collisions of will, and the dark beauty of the American heart that is ever searching for truth and meaning in a collapsing world.

Members:

Jeff Angell – Guitars, Lead Vocals
Barrett Martin – Drums, Vibes, Backing Vocals
Duff McKagan – Bass

With special appearances by:

Mike McCready – Guitar Solos
Benjamin Anderson – Keyboards
Dave Carter – Trumpet
Ed Ulman – Trombone
Dan Spalding – Baritone Sax

Album tracklisting:

1. Already Dead
2. The Whole World’s Watching
3. Your Secret’s Safe With Me
4. Red Envelopes
5. Leave Me In The Dark
6. The Butcher
7. Two Tickets And A Room
8. I’ll Stick Around
9. Capital T
10. A Place Like This
11. Independence Day

Thanks!! They also posted this a few day's back ..

Hey Folks, this coming Saturday August 11th, Walking Papers will be playing a FREE show in Tacoma's Wright Park as part of their summer music and arts festival. This is a duo gig with just me and Jeff Angell, but that's how we started this whole thing. And then Friday August 17th, WP will play the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle with Duff on bass and Jacques Willis on spooky vibes and keyboards (incredibly cool sound, must be heard). The next day, Saturday the 18th, its the full WP line up at Linda-Fest in Seattle (also a FREE show), with Duff and special guest Mike McCready joining us on lead guitar. A limited number of CD digipaks (designed by Jeff) will be available at these gigs, and then we have to stop till we play KISW's "Pain In The Grass" concert at the White River Amphitheater on September 29th. The CD will be released worldwide on October 2nd and more shows will be announced then. Please join our band page below, because in the next few days we are going to release the first single for the album, and you will be able to stream it for FREE (that seems to be the operative word of the day). Thank you!

True. All I've seen is advertising from their Facebook or local radio stations. That's pretty much it. Nothing abroad about their new album release.

Everyone needs to listen to this album. Easily one of my favourite releases this year. Absolutely amazing! Do yourselves a favour and grab it from Barrett's label costs 10 bucks! Best 10 I ever spent! :D

I just checked with my local record store and they told me they moved the release date from today to October 16th. That sucks because I was all set to pick it up today.

Anyone have one of the digipack ones from one of the shows they want to sell?

I may have to look into one of the 2 sites mentioned above to order it too.

I also forgot to mention that I asked the guys at the record store about it being released on vinyl and he said it looks like only the cd format as of right now.
