Not nearly enough. Only 2 this year so far. My work schedule can suck it  I do make exceptions and rearrange my schedule whenever possible for PJ shows, but that's too hard to do in general.

If I lived in a bigger city I'd be broke....I'd say I prob do about 10 a year...usually 6-7 thru the summer, and a few in the winter.

Living near NYC at home and near DC during the school year is both a blessing and a curse for this very reason

In the past few years I've probably averaged 4-5 concerts a year but I've gone to a lot this year, I went to 4 in one week a few months ago and 3 in a row just two weeks ago. I'll probably end up going to somewhere around 35 this year. In the past if I didn't have anyone who wanted to go I'd skip the show but I realized how stupid that is and I've gone to most of the shows this year by myself and I've had a great time, wish I would of figured that out years ago.

Probably 15-20 since having kids. Used to be 3-5 each month.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Lived in MD in 2011 so I had DC and Baltimore right there. I went to 45 concerts last year. Moved down to FL, and ended up seeing only 6 concerts this year before I deployed in May. Had about 5 others planned but got scratched due to being here. Keep seeing more and more pop up that I wish I was back in the states to go to (JJ Grey just announced near me in FL for October, and DeLuna Fest is just down the road from that venue)

We appreciate all your efforts in serving our country. Most people don't realize how fortunate they are for the little things like being able to attend shows. Good luck!

It depends on the year, but it has been increasing as of recently...

    07: Lollapalooza
08: 2 PJ at MSG, DMB
09: PJ 4 times, Third Eye Blind
10: PJ 2 times, EV, Candlebox
11: Soundgarden, 2 days at PJ20, Foo Fighters
12: RHCP, 3 days at Firefly Festival, 1 day at Made In America, 2 days at Music Midtown ATL, Global Citizens Central Park Free show, Gaslight Anthem show (once announced)

I afford it because I'm young and go with my parents to most of the shows (which they pay for the hotel, tickets sometimes, etc.) :?

Thats good that your parents are generous. Mine were like that for a long time too but now I reached the age where I cant "use" them anymore

Haha I hear ya. I enjoy going to shows with my parents too. Seeing The Who with my mom in December. Saw Bob Dylan with her from the front row two years back. Out of my 10 Pearl Jam shows, I've seen 6 of them with at least one of my parents (Hartford 2008 I was with both of my parents).

This year has been/will be heavy on going to shows with them. Mostly because they invited me, I didn't push to go to Atlanta, they were like "Avetts, Foos, and PJ. Are you in?" and I couldn't say no

But now there is the running joke, whenever I am home and that song "How do you afford your rock and roll lifestyle" comes on the radio, my mom pretty much expects me to thank her for taking me everywhere... 8-)

Yeah, but I pretty much only go to PJ shows now so there may be some droughts since they don't come around here that often. I was pissed when they announced the Atlanta date because it fell during my already planned vacation :( oh well.

I would put that mark at right around 30, although this year I seem to be coming up a little shy... I've only got about 20 on the books so far (including shows I have tickets to down the road)... I'm getting a little choosier over shows since I got a mortgage and had to miss a couple of shows I wanted to go to due to parents visiting and travel for work.... sucks i know...

still got some good ones left for this year though: Iron Maiden, Ris Against, Rush, Chili Peppers, ACL and Eddie Vedder x 4!

Hoping that some more big names announce some shows soon (It's been 2 years now since last time I saw Tool... dying for another show...)
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

  • i would bet i go to more concerts than almost anyone here. I volunteer at a venue, so i get to see concerts free, and attend nearly every show at the venue. The amount of concerts each week varies, depending on who they can book, and whats going on. But this week for example, i have 3 shows in a row. I would bet i see over 100 plus shows, 150 shows a year, and thats just at one venue. Seems like theres way more though. I go to other venues, where i have to pay unfortunately, but, this september, theres probably 5 or 6 shows at another venue i want to see, and 3 or 4 at another venue, and thats just through september, just one month worth of shows. My all time record, is 13 consecutive nights of shows. I was completely dead tired by the 13th night. I dont think there are too many people going to shows nearly every time a venue puts something on, and not too many people are going out as many nights a week either.

i go to a fair amount where i pay as well, ive seen jack white, wilco, emmylou and steve martin, and a few others this year at the non volunteer venue.
