I've been averaging 17 concerts the last five years and that costs a ton of dough! Wondering what's average for other music fanatics.

I spend more money than I'd like on concerts, but go to fewer shows than I want.

I just checked: 14 last year, and twelve confirmed for this year.

Obviously it depends on the year and who is playing here, but I'd say 4-5 concerts per year

1 maybe 2. Hitting the first one this year pretty soon. Rush in Columbus. The funds keep me from going to more shows.
The future's paved with better days

Alpine Valley Resort is etched in my brain!!!

  • I usually average out at about 1 a month. Somewhere between the 12-15 a year range.

I've only started really going to a lot of concerts since late '09, so it's still all new and exciting for me. I have found out that live shows are my absolute favorite things in the world, so since then, the count has escalated a whole bunch! I started a list of all the concerts I've been to, so this is kinda easy for me.
    2006: 1
    2008: 2
    2009: 4
    2010: 17
    2011: 14
2012: 19 plus 3 coming up...a bunch more to come if I get this internship I interviewed for!

I blame The Who for this all. Was my 3rd concert ever and it just smacked me in the face. I had never been so happy before (my dad literally commented at the show, "This is the happiest I have ever seen you, Sam") and in those couple hours realized the power of live music. The power of seeing an artist you so much admire do what they do best, and what you love them for. World's greatest feeling for me. I spend most all of my money on shows and that is all I ask for birthdays, holidays, etc--money for shows. It's a drug and I'm addicted!

Been averaging 30+ the past few years. Avoid the big, expensive shows - so it's manageable.
  • I go to a lot of shows - but i don't drink (anymore) so i don't really go out and spend money if i am not going to a concert --- probably around 20 a year --- what do you count Bonnaroo as? 1 concert?

2-5 a year for me. Growing up here in So Cal I went to ALOT of shows so now it seems I tend to go to quality, i.e. PJ, EV, U2, Bruce, Tom Petty, The Who rather than quantity like when I saw The Heavy a couple of years back. That was a $400 night and the show sucked.

    Cheers,

I guess I would count it by day. So I am going to Made In America fest and I'll count that as two.

i'd say i am in the 15-20 range every year. Last month i saw Avett Bros, Dinosaur Jr and Death Cab -- this month I saw Black Keys, Jeff the Brotherhood and am seeing Built to Spill - then next month the MIA bands, Ben Folds and the Melvins - so there is a quick 10 spot

Great question! But define 'concerts'...I go to dozens of local shows every year on top of the major ticket ones. Not including those, I'd say somewhere in the realm of 20 - 30, depending on the year. It's good knowing people in the music biz sometimes! :D

Doesnt need to be a major event to count it, but in my count I did not include local shows of people I know or friends of friends

it really depends...last year Alpine ate a big chunk of concert money, so I skipped a bunch of shows.

This year, shows are so random...I would really like to go to Pain in the Grass, but that show is September 29 :x
and I'd rather party with friends that I may only get to see once a year.

I'd say an average of 10-20.

I'm excited. My parents were going to take me to see Kenny Rogers and Lee Greenwood when I was a kid but I got sick so I had to stay home. Maybe someday and thanks.
