It has nothing to do with Free Speech or Gay Marriage or corporate influence... and EVERYTHING to do about being a shitty human being. I mean, come on... picking on a person in a starting minimum waged skilled job and acting like it is some sort of 'activism'? She's just a worker at one of the franchises, she doesn't control the company, it's action or decisions. Grow up you fucking spineless dick.
Add: Both times I went to the Chik-a-fil, the people were very nice. I only regret that their sandwiches were kinda crappy. But, I'm not going to be a dick and tell them so... I just lied and told them everything was just fine... and go to the 'In And Out', instead.0 -
Jason P wrote:I'm guessing this guy's job had been on the line for a while and this was the final straw. You don't fire valuable employees for dumb stunts like this. And valuable employees usually know better then to do something dumb like this. This is something a college kid would do.
Now future employers know who he is. Good luck finding a job.
I can't watch the video from work but read the accompanying article. This guy was a CFO?
Just seems so stupid to "fight hate with hate"...like the idiot who spraypainted a local CFA here.

The girl would have been totally within her rights to tell him they're like assholes....the whole thing is ridiculous....the fact it was shown on Fox, and 'went viral' is the most ridiculous part of it all.
This entire thing has been blown out of proportion.
The CEO is entitled to have and voice whatever his opinion is.
The Corporation has every right to contribute to whatever cause they want.
The Public has every right to react... boycott, voice an opposition, whatever.
It SHOULD have stopped there.
...
The POLITICIANS made it a big deal by trying to ban it from their controlled districts.
The Political Pundits made it a big deal by spewing it all over the mass media.
The opponents made it a big deal by staging protests and got the media's attention.
The supporters made it a big deal by thinking that going out to buy something for themselves on one day was some sort of activism.
This dick made it a big deal by posting it to social media.

America is really becoming a fucking joke. So bad, that the Polish are now able to make 'American Jokes' about us.
We are quickly becoming the 'Dumbest', in the 'Dumb and Dumber' crowd.Post edited by Cosmo onAllen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

I agree with everything Cosmo said.
My main beef with Chicfila is that their food isn't that good.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

Back on target, they guy in the drive-thru video is obviously a dick who's pointing his venom in the wrong direction, but does he really deserve to get fired for that? Like Jason P (I think) said, he must have been on thin ice at work already.0 -

the whole chic fil a/lgbt fiasco is a non story in my opinion.
Godfather.
this actually does fit the business model of 'any publicity is good publicity'
It is a story now though. It's a story to me even just looking at the singular fact that the suicide rate for gay and lesbian teens is higher than average. They get to see thousands of "supporters", many of whom are family members and people they know, send them the message that they are 'less than' heterosexuals. How conservative Christians can maintain this so called moral stance despite this fact boggles my mind. Not What Jesus Would Do.0 -
He's a self-righteous asshole.
That poor girl, you can see her becoming visibly upset and yet the asshole presses on. Truth is though, she probably deals with assholes everyday, just not always self-righteous ones.
As far as him being fired, I guess it's up to the company. I would think he would be given an opportunity to correct his wrong, if he wasn't already in trouble at work. And with the attitude and lack of morals he displayed on the video, as others say, he was probably already in trouble at work.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Nice pick up.It just kind of happened when I was typing, and I figured that sounds good.

private company. good for them. It's nice to see people selling a product and making some money around here.
this thread illustrates the blind hate. thanks op.
Godfather.
Overnight, a Chick-fil-A in Torrance, Calif., was vandalized with the spray-painted message "Tastes like hate" in advance of today's "National Same-Sex Kiss Day."
vandals eh? reminds me of OWS.0 -
Except that wasn't a "vandal."
That was a publicity stunt by an LA Graffiti artist who was promoting his art show this past weekend.
He tagged the restaurant, let it get CRAZY national press as the right wing lost their collective shit about "destruction of property" and "angry violent liberals" and other asinine rants, he then came forward a couple hours later and said that he did it and if the press had any questions for him, they could come to his art show.
So an unknown graffiti artist from Inglewood managed to manipulate the national press into promoting his tiny little art show. Which you gotta admit... is pretty brilliant.0 -
Fucking vandal is what it is0

as far as this video goes, he was being a dick.
Probably about as much of a dick as I've been to USAMan1 and I haven't been fired. If I showed my boss the things I've posted here I'd probably get a muffin basket and a gift certificate for a free weekend at Island House.
Hey, once I took a screen grab of a particularly good zinger I made here, posted it to Reddit and got like 300 vote ups. Great traffic to my blog for that.
however.. the girl at the window works a crappy-paying, thankless job and has no control over what her shift supervisor does in his spare time, let alone how the CEO donates company funds to anti-gay hate groups. So it was just pointless to do.
And really... the whole thing has gotten a bit silly but our society LIKES silly "coke/pepsi" debates where choosing a side is easy for them. On one side... they have the gays down the street who are all like gay and stuff and on the other... yummy deep-fried food.0 -

You're awfully fragile.
I had worse things carved into my high school locker door. I'm not supporting what he did but calling for him to be sent to jail for tagging a restaurant (which is done about every 30 seconds in LA) is just plain absurd.
If they threw every person who tagged a wall in LA, we'd have to turn Van Nuys into a prison colony. Which.. to be fair... if you've been to VAn Nuys... not much of a stretch.0 -

A bit of spray paint isn't "destroying" anything. I don't support it but acting like he torched the place or drove a car through the window is a bit dramatic.
And again... this wasn't an activist or supporter, it was a graffiti artist who was pulling a publicity stunt to promote his art show.0 -

He's a flat-broke Graffiti artist from Inglewood who got free publicity on National television and a massive press presence for his art show on Saturday. I'm going to say that he's going to make bank.0
