    All I would say is...

    Don't go cheap.

Frame less posters in good frames - you'll only ending up spending money on reframing in the future. Don't get standard sized IKEA frames.

Do shop around though - usually the best prices will be found with your smaller local frame shops.

I had a Spider-Man movie poster from 2001, the one that was pulled from the movie theaters after 9/11 because it had the twin towers in Spider-Man's eyes. Well I sat on this thing or years waiting to get the man room it deserved. I take it to Michael's (I know that part is my fault) cause there are not a lot of options by me. I do up the whole archive options, glass, bindings etc. It took an extra couple weeks to finish, and when I went to pick it up it was in the frame backwards (it was a double-sided print). Evidently, the tech must have thought YAM was the month the movie was released. Ok, no harm no foul. Excuse, me, this is when it gets hard.. Until two weeks later when I get a call while I am out of town that "there was an accident." When they removed the poster from the frame to put it back in, the tore the edge. I, cool as ever (maybe not) went back to the store when I got back to find that not only did it tear in the middle, they did not used heavy duty tape or something. The tape removed colors and layers all around the border of the poster. My heart broke. They resized the frame and matting to cover the damages and didn't charge me, but my baby is ruined, and it hurts my soul every time I look at it.

:( oh wow, that's pretty bad. (i just looked up the poster and it's going for $129-250 on the auction site right now) That sucks they weren't the brightest framers, what they did was unacceptable.

I went there to get a price quote for a poster, and wasn't impressed with the framer or the price-even with their 60% off framing + additional 15% off. CJMST3K ('the framing guy' on here) has better prices than Michael's. He usually does sales/specials for all of us here.

Don't ever go to prints plus!!!! I took my Boston poster there a few years ago and it came out really good. Fast forward a few years and I wanted to take it out and to my surprise they fucking glued it to the back poster board. RUINED!!!!!!!
Having tasted, a life wasted, I'm never going back again!

I've done most of mine at hobby lobby. I buy the sectional frames an do it myself. Very easy. If I need to or want to I'll have them cut some mat for me and they cut glass for me. Almost always under $60.

They also have built frames of all types and sizes. If I like one that fits my poster I'll have them cut the glass for that and they'll usually finish it for me right then.

I've only used their custom framing a few times but never had a problem. I do agree that you should do them right or you're just going to want to redo them later.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
