Any love for this song? A personal favourite of mine, love the lyrics and Vedders vocals on this song
Behind her eyes there's curtains and they've been closed to hide the flames. Remains.
She knows their futures burning but she can smile just the same. Same.
And though her mood is fine today there's a fear they'll soon be parting ways.

Oh hell yeah! One of my top 5. They opened w/ this night 4 in Universal City '09 and I knew it was on. I thought to my self "that's what kind of show this is gonna be, huh"?!

Taking into account all aspects of a single recording (the composition itself, the performance/performances being captured, the mixing of said performances) you would be hard pressed to find ANYTHING in the entire Pearl Jam catalog that even comes close to the studio version of Long Road. Everything about it is perfect.

This is by far my favorite song by pearl jam. I love the simplicity of the guitar but appreciate how complex and deep the lyrics are. In one of my favorite pj moments of all time I was first row in front of ed at my first show at randall's island '96. During the encore he mouthed off the mic "hey we don't know what to play next....". I swear he gazed out the crowd of 33,000 and his eyes connected with mine. I shouted out "long road"; he nodded and started playing it. It's one of the few times it's been played not as an opener. Needless to say I was beyond pumped.

    SWEET!

I always think of the simple rythm of the song as a tolling bell

Incredible song. So simple but so, so powerful. Those lyrics hit hard. What a beautiful song! Was so happy hearing it at EV solo last year, but I hope to hear it open a PJ show someday!

You need to listen to San Diego 06 and get the story to really appreciate this but the tolling bell has huge significance. It's also a very good show. It was my first live PJ song in Dublin and a week later again I got it in Berlin. One of PJ's finest moments.
