Word around the campfire is Zobrist probably won't suit up in a ML uniform again.
That's supposedly where the Cubs got the money to be able to make the Kimbrel move.
Yeah, I heard that as well. I guess I just don't know how bad things have to be to have a divorce end your career. The whole situation is really strange. I mean, half the league will probably go through a divorce at some point, and i've never heard of one who stopped playing because of it.

do you find this weird? i mean plenty of guys go through divorces. is there more to the story why he might not come back?
Eh, I don't really find it weird. He's a very religious guy and a big-time family man. Maybe if he was younger, not married very long, and/or had his entire career ahead of him it might be a little much to take this amount of time off. But married for 14+ years, 3 children and she cheats on him out of nowhere. I was wondering why I hadn't seen any #BoomMyMan posts from her this season. Combine that with him being 38 & in the last year of his contract; he was probably going to retire end of season anyway. Still sucks for him, his kids, and the Cubs all three.

So you mean the whore stuck around till the end of his career then bailed? Give her a letter of divorce and get back out there ya bum. Maybe he'll be back by playoffs. Kimbrel moved from one family to another.
Wait, she cheated on him? I don't recall seeing that.
He filed for legal separation in Tennessee (their offseason home) - the same day she filed for divorce in Illinois - citing that Juliana "has been guilty of inappropriate marital conduct which renders further cohabitation impossible." The filing also stated "Husband is unsure if the marriage can be salvaged."

Ah, didn't see that. Wonder how he found out? hahaha
With yesterday’s win, the Cubs take a commanding 1,094-1,093 lead in the all-time series!
So apparently this stat I saw Friday was only partially correct. Going into this weekend's series, the teams were tied at 1093 wins apiece since the beginning of the 1906 season. The all-time series is actually at 1,236-1,174 (.513) in the Cubs' favor. But both teams have the advantage at their respective home stadiums. Cubs are 689-524 (.568) at home vs Cards, and Cards are 650-547 (.543) at home vs Cubs.
Not making the playoffs this year. You can take that one to Vegas.
Yes they are.
Aside from 3 weeks in April, they've been rather pathetic. If they can play the rest of the season that well, they will. But 9 out of 12 weeks playing mediocre baseball isn't playoff caliber.

They will take the Central or the wild card. They won't get far. This team is the definition of inconsistent.
They're gonna have to take the Central if they want in, and I don't see it happening. WC is coming from East/West this year. Hate to say it but the Central goes thru Milwaukee now. Used to go thru St. Louis, it travelled up I-55 and went thru us for a couple years, now it's gone up I-94 to those fucksticks.
Cubs suck. As that loudmouth prick Richard Sherman once said about the 49ers, the Cubs are "ME-DI-OC-RE." Team might win 85 games if they're lucky. All I keep hearing about from EVERYONE is "there's too much talent on this team for them to not get it together." They have regressed as a team every year since winning the World Series. Where is this fucking talent I always hear about but never shows up? Aside from Baez & Rizzo, I'm not sure any position player on the team has enough talent to bring it to the stadium on a daily basis and compete. Look at all of the other good teams of the past 4 years. They keep getting better, we keep getting worse. The pure and simple fact is that the Cubs have done NOTHING to keep up with the Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, Astros, Brewers. Even the Braves & Phillies have more exciting teams with more consistent all-star caliber players than the Cubs. Those teams are all so far ahead of us, forget the fucking postseason. Even if - and that's a small if - we make the playoffs, it will be one and done again. It's almost like they won it all then got cocky and just expected the Commissioner's Trophy to be handed to them every year. I'd be ok if this is Maddon's last season. If there is all of this untapped talent in the dugout, it's the manager's job to get them to play to that level on a daily basis. I'm convinced Maddon is more concerned with what quirky lineup moves and puzzling in-game decisions he can make than actually winning games. It's like he goes to the stadium with no game plan other than "How can I be fucking weird today?"
