Well, we just had a solid start, who the fuck is this Bote guy? He's played a significant amount already, and hitting .330. The dude is a hitter. Great story. Hopefully Monty can lock one down for us tonight.
I saw a stat on him the other night. His avg exit velocity is top 5 in MLB, along with Judge, Stanton, M Cabrera and I can’t remember the 5th. Dude hits the ball hard!
Bote kicks ass! Stepping in great for KB! Which brings me to wonder since half of Bryzzo is underperfoming and injured, shall we just call the new corner tandem Rizbot? Botzzo? Sir David Anthony of Diamond Corner?
Cole Hamels can keep proving me dead wrong all he wants. He’s the ace of the team now. Lester has like a fucking 32.00 era in his last 5 starts. Hendricks better in his last few starts. If this damn staff could get it together all at once, we could start playing like Boston or Houston or Cleveland.

Hamels has, so far, been about as dominant as a pitcher can be. Looks like the change of scenery and the playoff race has worn well on him. If Darvish can come back and be the pitcher he can be, we're going to be looking solid. I always expect certain ruts like this for Lester. He seems to always have them - usually in the first half of the season, though.

^ Agreed on Hamels. Looks great. Lester will show up when it matters most. Darvish...I’ll keep my mouth shut to stay positive.
If you think about it, we should be incredibly positive. The starting staff has stunk, sans Lester's first half, Montgomery at times, and now Hamels. Bryant has been, by his standards, pretty much a no-show even when out on the field. Rizzo is batting leadoff. If you told me at the beginning of the year that Javy would be carrying this team, Bryant injured for a significant time, Yu not living up to a quarter of potential, Chatwood with more walks than innings, we lost our closer around the midpoint, and Almora and some guy named David Bote lead the team in hitting - AND we still have the best record in the NL - I wouldn't have believed that. Any one of those pieces injured right now that comes back and plays to near potential, and we'll see a significantly better play.
Last night felt like that Aramis Ramirez walkoff in 07 - might just be the spark we need to put together a run.

^ Agreed on all points. The Cubs are beyond fortunate to be in this position, all things considered. Now they need to go and earn it. New season starting now.

2 fucking hits. I stand by my previous comments that this is the most pathetic first place team I've ever seen in any sport. If you're in a slump, play the fucking Cubs because you'll waste no time (usually 1st inning) snapping right the fuck back out of it. These guys fucking suck.
All we've heard all year long. None of it has happened. And it ain't gonna.
Fuck it, I'm pulling a Wobbie and rooting for the Indians the rest of the year. At least those fuckers play hungry, like they're trying to win. I'm sick of this bullshit every damn day with the shitty Cubs.

Great 13 pitch AB by Rizzo.
8K, 2BB by the staff and 5K, 6BB by the offense. I like seeing that.
