Actually, I kind of want to talk about Heyward and Caratini. 2 guys I expected nothing from. I still feel like Heyward is going to roll over and hit a weak grounder to second every time, but he's really put up a solid year so far and is now hitting .291. Caratini is a more than adequate backup catcher. He might be solid trade value in the off-season (not sure of his contact status). Could we find another Randy Rosario arm in the minors, please?

^ Too funny that you think of Heyward hitting a weak grounder to second. I just got done saying the same thing during his last at bat but he proved me wrong. He’s playing well...keep it up!
^I was actually thinking Caratini and Bote could both be parts of a trade this season. Thinking the 2 of them with Happ and a minor leaguer would net a damn fine SP.

The dude just opens his hips up too early trying to get that buggy whip effect. Anything on the outer half and those hands just follow the hips = weak grounder every time.

DeGrom
I wish. Probably have to throw Happ in there too. Maybe even some mix of two of those three, and Russell. Just not sure I'd do it. But it would shore up the rotation for the remainder of our window.

Those 2, plus Happ and a decent prospect would be okay with me.
I love the versatility of Happ, but I think it is something the Cubs can currently afford to trade away at this juncture. Baez can play anywhere in the infield, KB can literally do anything, Hayward can do a damn fine Job of covering CF if needed.
Russell is too damn good defensively at SS and he's got a decent bat. Plus he's got a lot of team control left. Keep him.
Alas, no way the Mets trade DeGrom.

Probably right. I think the Mets have a really good young SS if I remember correctly. Maybe Russell doesn't have to be part of it. Who knows, but maybe they make that trade. I just can't see that being the best offer they get.
Agree about Russell, though. With him and baez up the middle, trading him would be like splitting kings at the blackjack table.

While that's a great testament to this team's resiliency, come playoff time you can't fall behind every damn game and expect to win against other playoff caliber teams.
Looks like rain at Wrigley today? Which is fitting, seeing the effort Lester put up. He always seems to pack it in with less then ideal conditions. 5 fucking walks. Someone didn't want to be there today.

Well, well, well. Here we go with these god damn 1st inning runs again.
Haven't we learned our lesson yet? It's a shame that what we thought was going to be a huge strength (SP), has turned out to be a weakness. Our record right now is a testament to the positional players' hitting and defense.

I don’t know who in their right mind thought we had a strong rotation. Lester has been solid as always, Hendricks usually is but he’s been terrible this year. Quintana is a 4/5 guy on any decent rotation, Darvish is a fucking pussy and now we have to pay that fucker almost 1/5 of a billion dollars to suck and be injured. I’d never even heard of Chatwood til we signed him and he’s shown why.
And now for the night game, the offense is back to making no-name pitchers look like Cy Young contenders. This team is going nowhere on October - IF they even make it there.
