I feel awful for the family and friends of the victim of this tragedy. My prayers go out to them.

    Jesus Fucking Christ....

I will never understand how someone can become so angry.

    I will just never understand.

I know, it's awful. Maybe the shooter is schizophrenic?

I, too, live in Denver, about 3 miles from the booby trapped apartment. My sister and I went to the movies that night, luckily not that theater. Woke up to the news via news alert on my phone. It's just...surreal. This community just can't catch a break :(

According to the newspaper article I read this morning he was seen described as:

    Shy
    Reclusive
    Bright
    Aloof
    Having few close friends

I felt depressed reading the article thinking people might see me as some potential killer.

Worst part about these crimes is that the media demonizes those with mental illnesses.

Not just the media I'm afraid.
Since the beginning of time people thought mental illness was demons,
    I guess the stigma remains.

I had asked in another thread if one could accept a returning vet doing something like this
    better than this killer.

It was misinterpreted and taken to flashback illness that combat often causes.
This not at all the purpose of my post.

My purpose in mentioning was to compare the level of understanding and empathy.

This changes when a rational mind has knowledge, experience, a way to process
something like this, a way to forgive if even in the smallest way.
By understanding what a vet had gone through, by accepting this could bring
on mental illness, one might understand those who have empathy for this killer
because of their own life experiences with mental illness.

Even though we can't bring back those who were killed but we can pray for their families who must endure sadly all of their loved ones. The victims who survived need prayers also who need to get through the pain of this tragedy.

Mentioned it in another thread but thought I would repeat it here as hopefully this thread will stay about the victims and their families.

I went past the American consultate in Brussels yesterday and was at a military base today (in Belgium). Both had flags at half-mast. It surprised me and asked why - it was in honour of the victims of this terrible shooting.

    Holy Crap!

The killer sent detailed plans to his professor about the murders he was going to commit ... and it sat in the mail room for a week unopened! :(

This could have been avoided ...

I also can't help but to think about the several stories floating around of some of the men who were killed trying to protect their ladies. So sad. This poor girl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ere8uKh ... re=related
