I hear that. I'm kind of a vacation time horder, so I can thankfully afford to take the day. Plus, Wednesday is one of our deadline days, so I'd be expected to do actual work if I went in. Can't have that.
i do that too...never use many in the spring, save them for the fall and holidays. this year is awesome...3 days of vacation at christmas to get 10 days off.

I'm usually a vacation hoarder too...but we can only carry over 5 days..plus one more year and I get another week of vacation!!

Yeah, it's pretty nice. I think the company just figured a) most people take those days off and b) no one gets any work done at that time anyway! Also, c) it helps cover up all the BS we have to deal with during the other 50 weeks of the year.

Oh, wow. That must have sucked. When I used to be at newspaper companies, we had to work during a lot of holidays, too. But we got double-time, and an extra day off at some point during the year. Plus, they always put out a decent spread for the folks working Thanskgiving and Christmas and whatnot. But generally it sucked.
Great start to my 11 days off ... Exchanged gifts with the fam ... Good food ... Got to wind up my sib kids and leave my siblings to deal with them ... And lots more mornings ahead of sleeping in. Fantastic!
