Blues Funeral is my favourite of the year. I keep going back to listening to that album. After that, probably Neil Young's Americana and Japandroids' Celebration Rock.
I'd put Rhythm And Repose between Blues Funeral and Americana on my quoted list.

I would say my favorites are

    Delta Spirit-Delta Spirit
The Shins - Port of Morrow

Jack White's album is solid, but I don't think its amazing as everyone else does.

I will now put it only behind Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellin. For the people going to the Made In America Fest in Philly- check out this album and go see the band! I saw them on Monday night and they were beyond incredible.

Adding Blind Sighted Faith by The Dunwells to this list. Amazing new band, I was blown away by them live just now!

Can't wait to hear new DMB, Band of Horses, and Avett Brothers as well. Those 3 could easily be in my best albums if they are as good as expected

    Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball

After all these years he still produces classic albums... this IMO is his best record of the last 20 years

As for the biggest let down... The Shins. Had such high hopes for their new album and it was awful, such a huge let down... they need to pull it back with the next record big time

Geez, I haven't bought any new releases in 2012. After 31 years of keeping up with new bands, etc., I have finally lost interest! Sucks to get old!

Music is mainly a live medium for me these days!

Haven't really listened to too many new albums this year, but gonna chime in with
    "Handwritten" Gaslight Anthem
Also liked "Comet" by The Bouncing Souls
and I've liked what I've heard from The Dirty Heads "Cabin by the Sea"
I'm really hoping The Flobots new one is good, I love those guys. I've heard one song from it, and I liked the meaning and message behind it, but I thought it kinda went on and on, also felt like it was missing something. Just have to wait and see, I guess.
