i bought a ticket for friday now, too. anyone doing both nights? there was one reserved seat when i went on just now so i went for that- been to alpine at least ten times but i've never sat in the pavilion. kinda excited to see what it's like.

now you're making it quite tempting to do both nights :fp:

Thanks Sam!! It was an awesome time! No DIDO...but Jimi Thing was incredible...also they played probably the best Two Step I've ever seen! Rapunzel...awesome!! You could tell the band was having a great time...Carter was on fire!!
Sheila I'm glad we ran into each other! My phone got absoutely no reception at Alpine though, too bad we all didn't get to tailgate together.
It was a great time but being at Alpine just made me wish for PJ20!!

When they opened the gates to Alpine they played the Running of the Bulls and you can see everyone running in...the best part is seeing Dave's face watching them do it!

so she made it out there then? that's nice. it was kinda frustrating to have to look for a ticket a few hours before a sold out show (one dickhole wanted 90 bucks for a lawn ticket! eff that!) but found a warehouse member looking to unload a lawn for face, so i was able to get one. i was under the impression she wasn't going to make it, so i'm disappointed we didn't get to meet up- it would have been cool to chat for a bit.
what a weekend of shows. both nights are up there with alpine 08 as the best shows i've seen by them. i definitely would have punched myself repeatedly if i had decided not to go and saw the setlists roll in. so, so glad i made the trek.
as of now saturday night's show is the longest show they've ever played (and friday's is something like 7th or 8th on that list), almost 6 hours of total music time from both nights. the shows just kept going... you'd think 'alright, this has to be it' before the encore, but then they'd do 2-3 more.
and the performances were on point. the band is playing as strong as it has since leroi's passing. i'm even more excited for the new album knowing how well they're playing together. steve lillywhite brings out their best for the record, and they have had strong shows most of the tour- it's a good good time being a fan right now i think. couldn't really say that a few years ago.
the highlights of many highlights for me were proudest monkey and THE DREAMING FUCKING TREE, and both were with stanley jordan on guitar. the shows are already up for torrent on dreamingtree.org, or you can stream them at dmbstream.com (though you have to make an account to do it, but it's worth it). and for an audience recording, they sound amazing.
Yes she did!! I was frustrated with my cell service...there were a bunch of people I wanted to meet up with and we had a pretty sick tailgating setup...but nothing was going through on my phone. Major bumout!
Ahh I didn't realize that was the longest show they ever played!! Makes sense though, they took the stage at 8:30 and didn't finish until midnight...I thought for sure as 11:30 was approaching they were almost done. Damn that was amazing! My body is so sore from all the dancing!
Holy shit can't believe I forgot about the Dreaming Tree...definite highlight!!!
Glad you had a good time too Andy!

cell service always sucks there. combo of rural and thousands of people all of a sudden being in one spot. it is frustrating for sure.
where'd you end up sitting?
n1 i had the 203 pavilion seat in row gg which was great and my first time being down there. the people around me were cool and didn't have anyone doing stupid shit. couldn't really see boyds side that well because of the speakers, but it sounded awesome and makes me think i will try for pavilions more often.
n2 was lawn and i ended up on that same side down close to the railing before the pavilion. the support post pretty much blocked dave but i could see most everyone else ata given time and again it sounded great. quite a bit of traffic through there which is kind of expected, but i was with a couple people who made sure they had room to dance so it was comfortable. the lawns always a unique experience and this year wasn't a crazy as i've seen it.
Well I ended up only going the 2nd night..was going to go for lawn the first night but it was just too damn hot! Kudos to you for dealing with that The 2nd night I was in 201 WW, so on Tim's side, we had an amazing view! Luckily we were sitting next to some die-hards that wanted to dance, so we had no problems all bumping into each other when we were dancing, ha! The lawn is always fun for Dave shows though!

These were the best 2 shows I've ever seen in my life! Alpine was such an amazing experience. I'm making a vow never to miss DMB at Alpine anymore lol.

Oh well, see all of you on Saturday...I'll make sure to have lots of ice and water!
And beer!
After PJ20, I think I prefer a rainy tailgate!
It won't be same without rain
But hell, if we can get the heat, rain, and coolness all in one day...it would be like reliving PJ20 weekend all over again in one night
