(Ed mentions that when they first played Amsterdam they were just kids and now they all have kids. He makes a joke about the wisdom of the kids picking Amsterdam as the city they wanted to visit. He says, "The kids are all here and we want to play this song for them."),

    Just got home and can't stop smiling. It was absolutely amazing! Great set, great crowd (at least where I was standing) and the new venue was pretty good too.
    Fantastic setlist and I was very happy to hear some of my favourites (Elderly woman, indifference, brain of J). Can't wait for tomorrow night!

    Hope whoever you were from NY get your ticket for tomorrow night sorted.

    Edit: just reread the setlist and it's now starting to dawn on me just how great it was. Porch absolutely rocked, as did Black. Loved hearing Given to Fly and Green Disease.
    I need to go to bed as I have another day in the office tomorrow before we can do this all again. It can't possibly be as good as tonight's show, but you never know!

    Wow! look at what was crossed off the setlist... Long Road, Immortality, Of the Girl, Of The Earth, PiL, BABA! This show would have been even more epic if those were left in :!:

    I don't think Ed forgot the lyrics to Not For You. The sound to Mike's guitar didn't work properly, so he handed it to the crew. He actually came back on the stage guitarless for a moment, hanging by the monitors. Then a crew member gave him a new guitar, and Ed said: "Got it!", and they went on with it.

    This is my husbands account but.... Guys I am heartbroken you crossed out Long Road... First we bought tickets from a sweet lady from England waited three months but they got lost and never arrived she had to get then re-issued... We trusted her to meet us here in Amsterdam, which she did! We travelled here from Charlotte, we were delayed two days in Washington D.C. Tried flying out of both Dulles and Reagen back to Dulles... We paid for hotels there and in Amsterdam... The 22nd was our fifth wedding anniversary... Which we spent in D.C. Trying to get a new flight to Amsterdam for two nights of Pearl Jam! We were at tonight's show which was awesome but Long Road was the first song my husband ever played for me... and we were in Virginia Beach For the show June 2008 on our first anniversary where we both cried when you played Long Road... Another Long Road I'm Canadian...it has been a very Long Road! So I will make you guys a deal if you play Long Road tomorrow night I will crowd surf a one of a kind Amsterdam Pearl Jam shirt I made from section 105 to replace Mike's shirt he "lost" at tonights show! Pretty Please!!

    Damn, another excellent show and setlist. I thought the crowd was a bit timid at first but it got better and better. The boys seemed to be having a ball - and so did I. So glad I finally got to hear Indifference for the first time :D

    Wow... what a night!

    Again an excellent TC early entry into this beautiful new venue.
    The crowd was really great, the sound was good, the guys were having much fun... and OMG what a setlist! :D

    Hope everyone who was there had a rocker. We were on our way to get the train out to the gig when my friend passed out and smashed his head on the ground down by the canal. Me and my OH spent the gig in the hospital with him and the whole time 'Brain of J' was playing over in my head. I was somehow devastated and delighted when I logged in to see that it was played tonight! Thankfully my friend got the all-clear and everyone's settled back down now. We will be in attendance tomorrow night, where I will keep my fingers crossed for 'Immortality' or 'Off He Goes', but will be just as elated to be there and with all my travel companions intact.

    imo eddie wrote all those songs down w/ the intention of crossing a few off
    he went w/ what he felt the crowd needed

    no long road to get the crowd rocking from the beginning
    plus of the earth would have killed the vibe that was going on at the time


    immortality would have been sick

    as for baba vs ritfw....i guess it was a last minute vibe
