i respect your opinion but i lost all respect for all the clueless asses on this island that night again i hope they neve evr play that shit hole again i'd rather drive up to bufallo and catch a show unless they are playing MSG.......
They are clueless asees?
Why?
Oh, because they disagreed with the almighty Ed and spoke their mind.
There is a very simple way to look at this, and it has nothing to do with politics.
Eddie always preaches that people need to be active and have an opinion, and thats what these folks did.
I'm not for the war, but just as Ed had the right to play the song and make his speech, the audience also had the right to respond in the way they deemed fit. It was a tense time, especially in a place so close to 9/11.
So of course it is natural that people took offense. It was good to see that people were voicing their opinions. Personally, i feel Ed handled it poorly. He was frustrated that people didn't agree with him, and he didnt practice what he preaches. Instead of being tolerant and respecting them, he threw a tantrum, and played 2 songs, and slammed the mic. Ed dropped the ball, and I think he knows it. That being said, I respect Ed for voicing his opinion, and for the most part, respecting the opinions of others, and I wouldnt want him any other way.
aaahhhhhhhhhhh my most regretted day of my life....I had 3rd row - best seats I ever had to a show....and I tripped and broke my ankle outside in the parking lot and had to have surgery so I missed the show - arrrggghhh!!!!!
But I do have the bootleg and would NOT have participated in the boo-fest.

perfect !!!! ive said b4 , 9/11 had alittle to do with it
people were uptight
but he should respect our voices the way we respect his,, although we dont have much of a choice during a show,,
whenever he gets political i go take a piss,,,,simple
never any booing in canada .maybe thats why the shows are excellent always.
i never understand why the crowd would boo,ya already know what ed thinks
about certain things, why is everyone in the states so offended. ya know eds anti war anti guns.....whats the surprise.

i think the fact that 9/11 was real fresh in the minds
i would think at least half the crowd knew someone who was lost
just xtra bad timing
you know what ed never said anything bad about 9/11 that night, all he did was play a fucking song that bashes fucking bush and people equate that to 9/11 i don't get it .......

i know,, but i think people didnt want to hear anything but music that night especially to get their minds off things
once he started bashing bush... people related it the horror of 9/11 (why? i dont know) and it snowballed out of control

or maybe long island has alot of bush supporters?
Bush was riding an all time high approval rating at the time or close to it
a lot of folks there supported Bush in the wake of 9/11
Im sure there were a large number of people in that audience who were directly affected by it.
Bash bush? At this time in American history? People took that as an insult.

thats what i was trying to say lol
their def were alot of people there who lost a freind or family member and it wasn't the right time to bash the president
its somewhat like at groundwork in seattle. ed brought a pakistani band
to play on stage. you could here the prejudice.whispers, the odd boo,the general lack of interest.
these guys had nothing to do with what happened, but bush had created so much fear, anyone that even looked "middle-eastern" was considered suspect.
felt very sorry for them.

I don't understand people who can't differentiate between being patriotic and being loyal to a leader........ emotions from 9/11?... I guess, but I don't equate that tragic day with Bush. It's like a sport team... you gotta support, root for the colors of the team not the players.
Hahaha i just listened to it on pearljamlive.com and its soo funny when the crowd chants USA lol. Like what the fuck is eddie....Russian, French, Colombian.....hahah then the one guy keeps yelling PLAY FUCKING ROCK AND ROLL! Priceless...how funny is it that those same people would cheering him now cause they learned exactly what "King George" is all about

Uniondale 03 was my first PJ show and even without the booing in the 2nd encore, even if there wasn't a 2nd encore it's still a classic show. Long Road opener, RVM played second , amazing versions of Patriot and Present Tense and possibly the best version of Porch I have ever heard. I've only been to 3 shows so I'm not as seasoned as most of you, but it's the most on I've ever heard the band. The booing pissed me off not because I thought Eddie couldn't take it or that the fans were being disrespectful but because the second encore was cut short because of it! Still a great show and I have nothing but fond memories of it, booing or no booing. Next tour they should play Nassua, its been five years, no more hard feelings between the residents of lovely strong island and PJ.
Another thread on this? Look, it was recently after 9/11, and people were real touchy about the whole thing. I don't blame alot of them for reacting the way they did, alot of us didn't know then what we do now. For someone who always is about free speech and respecting opinions, Ed didn't do that in that given instance.

The threads from like a million years ago, I'm listening to the boot so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in there, I'm to blame for bringing the old subject up again, probably for like the 1000th time

Haha, understandable, it's actually one of my favorite boots period. Great set, could've been better had the Bu$hleaguer incident not occurred. I think it has the best sound of any boot, period.

You don't understand because you're not from the NY area... Almost everyone I know lost someone from their hometown or knew someone that worked at the WTC and survived that madness. Right or wrong.... people at that time felt like Bush was standing up for them and the people they lost.
I was there and if you listen to the boot you actually hear Ed acknowledge to the crowd that he's okay with them disagreeing with him... he says something like that its good to have a dialogue going back and forth.
But he should have left it at that and finished the concert without the petulant attitude.

Bushleaguer made this show..... for me anyway. I bet if that happened now Ed wouldnt have gotten as many if any boos.

Well of course. It just had to do with the timing of the situation. People back then were just upset, and they thought Bush was sticking up for them thats all.

I agree the sound is spectacular. I remember reading on I think Five Horizons that the songs they cut out were indifference, soldier of love and smile. Personally I never found Bushleaguer to be a good song so replace that with those three and it would of been sick. Anyway old news.

And the crowd didn't only boo, they chanted "U-S-A, U-S-A" as well. Typical meatheads.
I'll tell you what I would have done...I would have played "Bu$hleaguer" over and over and over again until the place was empty.
Just out of curiousity, are you from America? Just curious, not trying to be a wiseass or anything.
