    Really? Why?

Both are beautiful country and people, to me anyway.

Good luck out there, sincerely and with no lol-ing.

Hope the sentiments are reciprocated if/when we in California get to that point.

Heed the warnings brother, if they say go, GO! Be careful. As a firefighter, I know those guys are doing everything they can to contain the flames. For Christ sake, RAIN!

I was born and raised in the I.E. forthe first 26
Years of my life. Just a lot of shitty memories of Cali
And my life there is all. But yeah wild fires are no
joke out there either. And again thanks for the support
as of right now Manitou Springs is on evac stand-by,
if they move, then we're (Colorado Springs)the next
Down the evac list for the direction this fire is
travelling. It took out my favorite backwoods high country
camping spot... I'm sad, butG glad it's missed the many
possible homes it could have gotten. Send some really good
vibes out for the people of Manitou Springs would y'all? I'll
    Keep you all posted.

Utah governor: Gun shooters cause too many wildfires

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47934760/ns ... -cV0bWvi5E

    we have guns
never shot at a living thing
so this is not an anti-gun comment
    but damn

Authorities now say 20 of Utah’s wildfires this year were started by target shooters, compared to 24 in total last year – with three months left in the western wildfire season. The Dump fire near Saratoga Springs, Utah, started near a landfill when the spark from a bullet hitting a rock set off a patch of grass, which then quickly spread, fueled by dry conditions and gale-force winds.
Colorado officials are also trying to figure out if the 1,200-acre Lake George wildfire was sparked by a ricocheting bullet.
Although this has been a fairly standard year for wildfires following the massive Texas wildfires in 2011, hundreds of fires have burned and dozens continue to burn in places like Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii, and New Mexico, where the state’s largest wildfire ever is still smoldering through the Gila National Forest. The Fort Collins fire in Colorado has destroyed nearly 200 homes and caused one death.
Humans, whether accidentally or on purpose, start six times as many fires as lightning in the US every year. Activities such as barbecuing and camping-related fires are often cited as causes of wildfires, while arson or careless disposal of cigarettes also remain problems. Authorities regularly target such activities under emergency wildfire declarations.
When it comes to shooting guns on the tinder-dry western plateaus, though, even local authorities so far have refrained from trying to impose emergency bans on shooting, instead urging gun owners to voluntarily refrain from loading up and heading out to the range.
“Citizens do not surrender their civil rights just because of a natural or man-made disaster,” Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said in support of a lawsuit in North Carolina filed by gun owners after a 2010 snow storm put a gun ban into effect.

Manitou Springs is now on manditory evacuation.
The fire has now burned over 2000 acres. Please pray
for these people this town (Manitou) is a very cool and
interesting town. There will be an update meeting for
Those who've been evacuated at our church tomorrow
to let the evacuees know the progress of the fire. Please
continue to send good vibes. Mystic weed thanks for posting
that article, these fires are so detrimental to
not only the environment but to the commerce of
the states involved. I'll let you know how things are going
concerning Colorado Springs a little later.

I was calm but admit I'm a bit thin-skinned when it comes to this.

Definitely good thoughts from here. I hope you all keep safe as can be.

We have just been named the second priority fire
in the country!!!!! Not county..... COUNTRY!!!!!
We are FINALLY getting two C-130's to help out
with the 8 fires in Colorado. Not sure yet if Waldo Canyon
gets one, but I personally believe we will get for
Waldo and HighPark should get the other.
  • whispering handswhispering hands Posts: 13,527

And I just saw tha YouTube had TONS of video
of this fire, it's listed under the search title:

So last nighti could see flames licking up over the ridge
behind Queens Cayon ( it's notin there yet, but scarily close).
So far only one structure has been damaged, a 10x10
shed! What a continuing miracle! Please continue to
keep sending us good vibes out here, thanks!

We were just evacuated from our home. I am staying
with my sister in the next town over. I could possibly
lose everything AGAIN!!! But the important things are safe, my
family, my cat, and paperwork. So exhausted... Going to sleep.

My sister is in Colorado Springs but lives on the other side of town from where the fire is. So we're just waiting and watching.

Let it rain indeed. I don't think most folks really care about wildlife in a situation like this, but I was talking to a Yellowstone ranger last weekend, and he said the moose population is still extremely crippled from the big fire in 88.
