Saw two of you ask about video for "Rain"....guess I'll be the third? It must exist, no? I've seen the small clip of it at the famous Pinkpop in '92, is it like that? Just a small snippet that leads into the next song?
it was the whole song... or most of it. I doubt there will be too many fan videos due to the rain but it was professionally recorded so maybe it will be released at some point.
I was at this show and it was probably the worst complete Pearl Jam show this Millenium.
As I said on Twitter "You know a crowd is s**t when Eddie Vedder sings the first verse of Betterman"
Pearl Jam acted like they didn't want to be there and I can't blame them either.
I never thought the words "Pearl Jam" and "Least favourite gig" would ever go together... But this is pretty low down on my list.
So the crowds at MSG, Hyde Park, all the dozens of other times that Ed has the crowd sing the first verse have been rubbish have they?
And as for the band acting like they didn't want to be there...
I agree. This guy is talking nonsense.
I didn't really like the the crowd at Hyde Park though. A lot of people around of us were shoving and pushing forward with little regard for anyone else and when Ed asked everyone to take a couple of steps back, a lot of people were groaning and complaining. And once everyone had gone back, they just started pushing again.
It is the least favourite of my eleven PJ shows by far.

Where about were you? Because I was dead centre about 7 rows from the front and everyone seemed really chilled and like they were having a great time...I thought the setlist was really good too.
But I agree with that Reading was a lot better...Still my favourite I think!

As usual, I was in line with Mike and about twenty or so from the front.

I was on Stone's side and we had a blast.
Was probably more people just waiting for songs off Ten than the usual gigs. Don't know if Eddie caught that vibe because he was doing some cheeky introductions to songs, e.g. 'Hope you can all breathe out there' and playing Just Breathe, not Breath, and 'This song is about the Ocean' and playing Amongst the Waves'.
Guess it's just where you're at in the crowd. I had the biggest idiot next to me on night one in Manc, luckily we we're able to move out of his way. Not so easy if you're amongst a rowdy crowd though I imagine.

i'm kinda surprised. seeing that about half the crowd at any given time at any given concert is watching the show through their 2 inch phone screen and recording the concert, i don't see how no videos have surfaced.

Dude...You must have just been unlucky then?! I thought the crowd were really good...If only the sound was abit louder it would have been perfect!

Ah, I wasn't involved down the front - my stepdad had always wanted to see them, and as it was his 50th birthday I took him to it and dd the full VIP thing with the backstage area, the dedicated podium near the stage, and, most importantly, the inclusive bar. We made full use of that, and it's never been the same price since (probably nothing to do with us, but it's nice to think so given how well we used it... )
Big thanks to Ross for waiting for me to arrive in the campsite (the jungle... fuck me it was disgusting). We had to move and re-pitch our tent on the saturday morning because we had pitched on the emergency access route around the perimeter of the site... fucking ball-ache but they sent us to a field with loads of space and virgin grass, even though by sunday morning it was just a bog.
I left sunday morning, petty and pearl jam rocked, shame I missed bruce and band of skulls but wanted to catch the footy... enough said about that.
Great show.
Was a pleasure mate, I felt really guilty about how shitty our little site was. It ended up being a great move!
I wont go into too much detail on the Sunday, suffice to say that we stayed, and I couldn't help but feel bad that you hadn't - the sun came out and.... well..... it was a good day - even the flood light didn't come on Sunday night! The guys near us were big Peal Jam fans - they told me to pass on that they enjoyed your guitar playing on Saturday!
As far as Pearl Jam, they were immense. I was aiming for Mike's side, but ended up pretty much central, a few rows from the front. The crowd were great, and I was really surprised how many people knew all the words to the songs.
My prediction for Oceans was wrong (sadly), but they played a great set. My only complaint is, with a limited time it would have been nice if they'd only done one encore break to have time for another song. But I guess thats their thing
Despite what others may have said, it looked to me like the band were loving it.
It was even worth listening to Jessie J and Tiny Tempah or whatever he's called!
Really enjoyed Tom Petty, was a great first headliner and Springsteen was amazing!

5th Pj show and we finally got on the barrier! (imbetween ed and Mike), we had to camp out there for 10 hours without a piss/drink/food and having to endure Jessie J(dedicated i know )
I thought it was an awesome show, loved the setlist, just wish it was longer than 2 hours!.
Festival crowds can be hit and miss. I ended up with a knob and his drunk partner next to me who only knew 1 song; normally i could tolerate this but when Ed came down to the pit i had my hand out and he was one shake away from grabbing my hand when the stupid drunk bitch dragged my hand down and grabbed eddie's hand and didn't let it go ( seemed to spook him a little). :x
I was going mental all the way through the set and me and the wife kept getting loads of points from Mike right from the point the lights came up on Last Exit and i was screaming my lungs out to the chorus. Got a Wave from Ed too, which was nice.
I didn't get impression the band didn't want to be there but they probably would of liked more alternative acts on before them because apart from Biffy, it was like 'Party in The Park'. Imagaine if they were on the same night as Petty as a double header?..
Anyway, i was so pumped up being at the front i wouldn't have noticed too much from a critical point of view.
And i'm on the photo on 10c site of eddie in the pit (balding guy in red jacket with a daft look on his face)

The sound is terrible at Hyde Park - and it's going to be even quieter for Soundgarden!
Awful venue for live music.

Why is it going to be more quiet for Soundgarden?
Any sign of this yet?
Locals have complained loads down the years and the sound level limit has been reduced since PJ played. And it was quiet enough then.
