Pearl Jam
Isle Of Wight Festival
Newport, UK.
June 23, 2012

Set List:
01. Unthought Known
02. Last Exit
03. Hail Hail
04. The Fixer
05. Rain-(Lennon, McCartney)
06. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in A Small Town
07. Supersonic
08. Given To Fly
09. Untitled
10. MFC
11. Even Flow
12. Setting Forth
13. Corduroy
Ed talks about Joe Strummer and the great music he made with The Clash and The Mescaleros. Referring to Isle Of Wight Ed says Joe would have like it here.
14. Arms Aloft
15. Jeremy
16. Why Go

Encore Break 1
17. Got Some
18. Daughter/Blitzkrieg Bop-(Ramones)
Ed talks about Willie Nelson covering "Just Breathe" and what an honor it is. He jokes about now all he can do is hear the way Willie sings the song and how Ed wants to sing it that way. He then sings a line imitating Willie's vocal style. Ed says "He sings it better than me". The band then plays the song with Ed singing normally.
19. Just Breathe
Ed dedicates Just Breathe to "Rebecca and her boyfriend, I hope they made it, and thanks for my guitar"
20. Betterman/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling)
21. Porch

Encore Break 2
Ed mentions the other bands that played the festival and asks the crowd to say hello to Bruce Springsteen for them. He also says, "I don't know how this applies, something that Jeff said to me that bears repeating, 'give a man a gun and he'll rob a bank. Give a man a bank and he'll rob the world.' We gotta keep an eye on them. Justice for some of these people that are making a lot of other people suffer and they just don't care at all"
22. Blood
23. Alive
24. Yellow Ledbetter/Little Wing-Hendrix

Looked good to me!! :D Hope those hardy souls who attended had a good time despite the weather and hope the band won a few new fans. It was just another PJ gig and I'm sure any of us would have loved it.... :D Festival is a happy word and I keep saying to those who post "Meh" that it's not actually a word! ;)

nice set for a festival indeed... worth the beatles cover on it's own and a great song choice also... one of the beatles first songs that wasn't a typical 'love me do' type. cant wait to hear it.
I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Not a Beatles fan so don't particularly care about Rain (don't even know the song), but I'm very jealous about Last Exit and Setting Forth! That's great. Looks an excellent setlist, definitely not a Manchester beater, but amazing for a festival.

p.s. Arms Aloft... sign... I appreciate the reasons for playing the song, but maybe 1 tours worth was enough??

The setlist isn't as good as Reading Festival 2006.

The crowd didn't look as good either - and the weather certainly wasn't!

Great setlist! Can't wait to hear "Rain"
Hopefully this will make it to the official boot... But I could see there being some legal troubles with (Lennon/McCartney) copyright.

They don't do day tickets at IOWF, so I expect people won't be online to say how it was until Monday.

Why? No other cover ever gets any problems, so this will be no different.

    ATHENS / 30-9-2006, MANCHESTER / 20-6-2012, MANCHESTER / 21-6-2012, AMSTERDAM / 16-6-2014, AMSTERDAM / 17-6-2014, AMSTERDAM / 12-6-2018, AMSTERDAM / 13-6-2018, PRAGUE / 1-7-2018, KRAKOW / 3-7-2018, BERLIN / 5-7-2018
  • Just got home from IOW - we left a day early as tomorrow is going to be a nightmare following all the rain (we were in the campervan field and every van had to be towed in or out by tractor).

Last night was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Didn't even notice the rain chucking it down until I was walking back.

Wasn't the best PJ show I've seen, but the set list suited the atmosphere of the festival, and everyone round me (down the front on Stone's side) really enjoyed it. Speaking of the crowd, was the best behaved one I've seen down the front at a UK PJ festival gig (almost the complete reverse of Hyde Park in 2010), but I think a lot of that is down to the people that attend IOW (I go most years and the crowd are mostly a lot different and nicer than the V's and the Reading's)

I met someone that posts on here, but I've completely forgotten your username - if you read this, then a BIG thank you to you and your wife for a very entertaining evening after my friends buggered off to watch Miles Kane and The Charlatans
