Ed's improv after Not For You - Gorge

Now I’m there
Now you’re there
And now there’s another one
She is clear
All our life
Could have never known
What she could bring
To our home (proud daddy laughing as he sang this part)
And to think
When I was young
I was ready
To give it up
Somehow stayed
Never changing
And here we are
And its love that remains
Our love remains
Our life remains

I can't figure out the very last thing he says before going into Corduroy...Can anyone understand what he says there...also, does the rest of this look accurate to what you hear?

  • It sounds to me like Ed might be changing his stance on abortion, or at least look at it differently after the birth of his daughter.

Anyone else think these might be some lyrics to a new song? If it is I'm digging them.

i don't think it has anything to do with abortion.

hah-- being pro choice does not mean that you do not appreciate/want new life in the world

i think there are a few people out there that have children and are prochoice.. come on

This is what I got out of it:

    Now I'm here
    Now that you're there
    and now there's another one
    She is clear
    All our life
    Could have never known
    What she could bring
    To our home

    And to think
    When I was young
    I was ready
    To give it up
    Somehow stayed
    Never changes
    Here we are
    And it's love that remains
    Our love remains
    Our life remains

    and explains.

You nailed the two words I had wrong and I have changed them in my post...thanks!

As far as the last line...that sounds right...but it's still so mumbled...

Now that I listen to it again, and listen for that.. it does sound a bit more like "and explains" than "and thus brings".

  • Give it up...

    Meaning suicide, in my opinion.

I've never heard this before, but it certainly sounds like... not necessarily regret, but wonder of how things could have been, how different things would have been, and if he missed out on something special.

    I agree. (ten characters)
  • I think it's fitting to tag this to Not For You, i.e. his private / family life is just that, private, and ...Not for you (us, the media, whoever).

you don't? what then? to me it sounds pretty clearly to be a reference to his past. If not, then i don't know why he would sing something that could so closely identified with it.

The question is is that an improv or new song?

people do not have a change of heart on prolife/choice issues by just having a child

he is probably saying he is glad he has settled down and had a family. he probably never pictured what joy a child could bring to him.. just like everyone says.. you never realize it until it happens

This is exactly what I meant. What ever choice he made in the past, right or wrong, he is happy with the choice he made now.

Yeah, I don't think this has anything to do with abortion either.....more just about how happy he is and all the love he feels for where his life is now with the addition to his family and where his band is and whatnot. He's grown up a lot over the last 15 years....

    I dunno....just my interpretation.

    And here, I concur. :)

Abortion didn't even enter my mind when I heard it.
