i tried to warn him about the evil of pivot tables....but would he listen??? NOOOOOOO!!!! pivot tables are good he says....well, now who is laughing.
pivot works fine. I tried to vlookup a table that is about 16,000 rows by 171 columns against a table that is about 7,200 rows and 171 columns. oops. seems to me that if I can concieve it, excel should be able to handle it.

I've created some things in excel, like purchase orders, but I'm not like playing with hundreds of thousands of numbers.

and then I tried to paste that into 16,209 rows by 169 columns, which is 2,739,321 cells.
it didn't like it.
