Thanks for sharin'! If you like, there is a huge collection of PJ in Newfoundland pics on our little corner of the web and would love to have yours there as well...
Signal Hill. That walk is remarkable because if you walk 10 feet and turn 360 degrees, you have a completely different vista than you did 10 feet earlier.
Having travelled extensively, the people in st. John's do take the amazing vistas for granted. it is completely spectacular here.
that's me ! i was also taggin along w/ sophie & sam, happened to have the same flights in & out of newfoundland, met em waiting for halifax soundcheck
What an awesome w/e that was! I'll never forget it! It was great meeting you guys and bumping into you and S+S all over all w/e. Will you guys make the trip down to Boston for shows there next year?
I will feel....alive....as long as I'm freeeeeeee...
Awesome pics!! i've always wanted to go to the east coast, so beautiful and the people are so awesome! thatnks for sharing those and your ones from PJ!
not to be a stick in the mud - but i think John Cabot sailed long before 1947 (i realize it was a typo, but im a canadian history major and cant help myself...sorry i dont know the exact date)
did you know that there is a world heritage site in NFLD where there was a Viking settlement? it would have been sometime just before 1000 AD...( so Columbus wastn actually the first european on North America) not sure where exactly but its a park and you can tour through it and such, i've always wanted o go and see that, would be cool to check out
but yeah do not go in the winter... it gets pretty wild out there!
The Viking settlement is called L'Anse Aux Meadows. It's located on the northern tip of the island portion of the province. Definitely worth checking out.
Nice pictures. too bad its difficult to get good pictures of matt tho. btw who is kelly?
Go to twofeetthick.com and under cocert chronology read about the show on 9/24. It explains Kelly there. Also there are some threads (st. Johns fanviews) on here that go into more detail about Kelly from people who knew her and the situation better.

twas a great weekend i was planning for months to make it down to beantown last sept ('04) but things didnt work out, smalltownbeck was there though, i'd love to catch a show there sometime, havent been to mass since spring break 1992!
Thanks so much for those great pics.! I liked that you included some of the beautiful local artwork!
The visual art talent in Newfoundland is incredible. No question. Very large number of artisans for such a small group of people clinging to rocks in the North Atlantic. Come here in June for Icebergs and whales. I'll let you know as the reports come in, but they're not a winter phenomenon. They're a spring/summer onset thing. Weird. eh? Birdwatchers want to come here and spend more time too.

That's awesome...I'm in some of your pictures..That's me in the picture the 3rd from the bottom with my arm up. I like the blurriness of the pictures...it just adds to the feeling. Good memories. Thanks!
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."
That wall is one of dozens of commissioned street murals. We have lots of exposed rock as canvas. For the most part, street murals is respected as art because people leave each other's space without scribbling. There are garish exceptions but some of the wall street art is incredibly vivid.
Within a stone's throw of that rock are at least a dozen other fantastic pieces. I'll try to take a few snaps...
My observation on this piece is that the artist had a bit of experience drawing pictures of hockey. Note the nets, the socks and the general goalie-padness of it all. Also the puffin was the mascot for the local toronto leafs AHL team (now the team has moved to accursed Toronto itself.) All wrapped up in a classic native-esque form.

I didn't think that crappy old camera would work. no flash. poor motion cancelling, but still the pictures have nice jiggle.
Great show. Daughter and Alive from that show (night one st johns) just blow me away every time I hear it. No complaints for any of those shows. Energy of evenflow pretty crazy.
Ed said: St John's crowd one were "The best singers east of the Mississippi". It sure is nice to set a watermark all this distance from ol' miss. (Closer to Ireland than New York).
Everyone loves the show they were at more than all others, but can someone who's heard a few dozen PJ shows please let me know how St. John's night one rates for pure energy and connectedness with the crowd? Of the 7800 people there, hundreds of them have had some choral experience thru school.
