i dont really have an opinion about that..maybe some specialist knows better..
i dont stay at the foto..i prefer to think the meaning..breast feeding..i support mommies doing it..
as i said already the foto is atleast kinda shocking
People keep making a point of saying they support breastfeeding... who doesn't??Smeone would have to be a real moron not to. I don't see that as the issue once kids are way too old for it.
i understand what you say..i dont disagree with you,but i really dont have an opinion about the issue a small boy will get from this..specialists can have a better one than me
as i said before,is how you see things some times..my mind when i saw the foto, didnt went to porn, but how important is breast feeding

Three ... six... if a kid is old enough to have a discussion about drinking out of his mom's boob, he is too old IMHO. And being on this cover is just gong to be damaging for the kid.

It's kind of weird when the kid starts saying "Mommy, booby!" right? Like I said, to each her own. I do feel bad for the boy when he gets to school - you know that will haunt him. Obviously Time just wants to sell magazines and is kind of desperate.

Well, the magazine cover probably achieved its objective - getting people to talk about breastfeeding and how long it should occur and if its ok in public, etc. The cover was over the top but really each person is different about how long is appropriate to breastfeed your kid. I think the kid and mom have more to worry about with him being on the cover in such a position than the actual breastfeeding. If nursing that long is right for you but not for me isn't it all about choice and doing what's right for your family?
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

No it didn't achieve its objective. Did anyone here actually buy the magazine? If not, then mission NOT accomplished.

At the very least, the lady on the cover is almost assured to get reality TV offers.

As for the debate it generated ... it's another sign that we don't have real problems anymore and have to make them up. I doubt this issue is hotly debated in a country like Nigeria.

Agreed, but is that a good or a bad thing? It's somewhat in the natural cycle of things -- as humans, at least in certain parts of the world, we've largely conquered the "survival" concern for the vast majority of the population. A very small portion of our time is spent making sure we have food, water, and a roof, so we're left with "bigger", more esoteric things to ponder like philosophy, morality, and craft beer :ugeek: . So in a sense, our ability/need to obsess over whether a 4 year old should be breast feeding is a fairly distinct sign of progress. Whether we're better off for that fact is another question.

Nah, all he has to say is, "that was not my Mom." and he's instantly cool.

Next month the boy will be sharing an Imperial Stout with his dad, and the cover will say "Are You Dad Enough?"

Good lord what is the world coming to...
did they find the largest 3 or 4 year old they could, are those combat boots he's wearing?

Tough to make a cover look provocative ....

and this is supposed to be in favor of breastfeeding older children?

Time ain't what it used to be, I guess.

My opinion on breastfeeding, it is a personal choice if and how long and it
should be done with class and respect for all involved.

This cover is not a good example of that.

It's the old "even bad PR is good PR" routine. Sad, to me.

Wrong. It's meant to make people BUY Time again. We did not - FAIL.

The more a product is discussed, the more it is bought. I guarantee this issue is Time's best selling in a while.
