loved them from the second I heard them on the radio in the early 90's (probably even flow was first), and having an older brother helped a lot. Thanks for the chance0

In 1993 I was on a bus with the baseball team heading to a game. A guy on the team had a walkman and was playing a cassette tape of a few Pearl jam songs he had recorded off the radio. I was hooked after I listened to the same three songs at least 5 times each. It's funny to think back at what a crappy recording it was.
Thanks and good luck to everyone.0 -
I was sitting in my car (Bronco II) listening to Black on the radio and waiting to go into Tower Records in Phoenix until I could hear the DJ tell me the band's name (I think it was Spring Break '92). Instead, the station went into something else and I had to go into Tower and be that guy who asked if they had the album with the song that ended with a lot of Du-Du-Du-Du-DuDu-Dooo. Fortunately he knew and took me to the "P" section.
Thanks KUPD for playing tracks other than Alive and Evenflow that day!

Loved them from the early 90's on the radio, but then got distracted with other genres of music. My husband then rekindled that love on 6/24 & 25/ 2008 at MSG! Have been (re-) addicted ever since! Thanks for the chance!

I'm 38 and have been listening to Pearl Jam since they began. I can't remember the first time I heard them, but I do remember the first time I saw them. It was the MTV Unplugged session in 1992 that had me glued to the television at 18-yrs-old. When I saw the soul in their performance, especially Eddie's now infamous moment of writing pro-choice on his arm during the instrumental of Porch I remember the goosebumps rising and thinking what this guy and this band has can't be described beyond that it is filling exactly what I need.
Thank you so much for the awesome giveaway! Can't say I have it in my collection. Peace, Love & PJ!Love ain’t love until you give it up0 -
Buddy of mine was fan of soundgarden when I started college same time ten was released and he had bought a copy and listened. Had to get my own and see what they were all about. Really liked what I heard but was also big fan of Tom petty, Neil young and pink floyd at the time. Couldn't put ten down but was really blown away when vs was released. I wore that copy out. Have been a long time fan!!0

Not a very remarkable story.. Lol.. Was at party in 92 and a friend popped in ten.. Was hooked after i first heard porch ... Many many shows later, porch still gets me pumped when I hear it :-)
Tks for the chance0 -
It was Oct. 16, 1991. My aunt bought tickets for her and I to go to the Chilli's show in Madison, WI. We got the last 2 seats in the old civic center. We knew Smashing Pumpkins were opening the show, but when we went to the merch table there was a stickman shirt for Pearl Jam. PJ opened the show and blew the place away! My aunt and I still talk about how after the PJ set the place just blew up and then went quite as we looked at each other and went, "Where the hell did they they come from". Thanks for the contest, it's fun hearing these stories!0

I was 12 and hanging out with my old babysitter (she lived across the street and I often hung out there even when I was too old to need a sitter) and I saw a copy of Ten on her bedroom among all the clothes, books etc. I picked it up and asked her what it was. I remember exactly how she looked at me... like she was deciding if I could handle it or if it would just be wasted on my young ears. She popped it in her stereo and that was that. She made a copy of it for me and I listened to it over and over and over. PJ has been a constant in my life since then, all through high school, university, married life. They've introduced my to some other pretty cool bands along the way, but they will always be my number 1!
Thanks for doing the giveaway. If nothing else, it's cool to read other people's stories.0 -
It was circa 1990 and I was stopped at a gas station in San Diego. My car had overheated and I was waiting for a tow truck. I was talking to the attendant as he was opening a package he had received in the mail. It was a cassette tape from a band he was considering joining. He popped it open, and played it. He asked my opinion and I said I liked it, and I suggested that he record some lyrics to the music and send it back. He was able to come up with some lyrics pretty quickly with my help. Eventually the tow truck came and I was on my way. That was the last time I have heard alive, would be great to hear it again if I won!0
