of course not expensive and in midtown
try priceline. I scored a 4 star hotel - Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Midtown for $194 - that's for Friday and Saturday night. Not too bad

thank you, it looks good the hotel and the price. maybe i book there. regards dude!

Starting to consider this festival. Only a 9 hour drive from Indianapolis. Cheap $55 tickets. Only use 1 day off from work and see PJ and then the Foo Fighters (for the first time!).

    Might have to do this.

$55 for both days? That seems like a one day ticket price

Did a bit of research....flight from L.A. to ATL is $350, and the Marriott Marquis has a AAA rate of $92/night.

Not much I want to see on Friday except the Foos, and maybe the Avett Brothers (out of curiousity) so It is feasible to fly-in on Friday with enough time to have a nap before going to the venue!

Saturday has some great bands....PJ, Garbage, Adam Ant (for reals!) and Flo-Mach.

Wife's birthday is on the 27th, and I am sure she'd love this as a birthday gift!

    Very tempting!

Garbage could be cool. Freakin Adam Ant though?

Adam Ant will be a lot of fun if you are a child of the 80s!

I may try and go to this show... Do they usually do a full set like they would at a regular tour stop for a festival like this? Or is it shorter?
Who knows with festivals. They'll play for at least two hours. They have to please the masses so we'll hear a lot of hits, but you know Ed, he'll throw in some rare ones too.

Since this isn't that huge of a festival (in terms of diversity of acts & number of stages), I am thinking they won't feel the need to "dumb it down" too much!

    Is the secret out yet?

My wife and I got tickets, seemed like a perfect way to cap off the weekend. I think the venue holds something like 1500 people. Should be amazing!
Anybody sticking around ATL for Glen Hansard on Sunday night?

Thanks for the tip....I had already rolled the dice with Priceline...got a room at the Sheraton for $70/night. The hotels located closer to the venue were over $200 each, so I opted to stay downtown instead.

Ones closer to the venue were crazy expensive and only half way decent of a hotel.

It seems as if the Midtown hotels are older/more classic than the slicker downtown business hotels.

The Marta station is 2 blocks from our hotel, but downtown gets a bit dodgy after dark, so I figure we can take a taxi back from the festie each night if need be.

    Very true.

I'm fortunate to have the Marta right across the street from the hotel. Thank heavens for that.

Did they tell you that it will be cheaper for you guys to take the marta from the airport to the hotel? $16 for a weekend pass.

Marta is the cheapest way to get from Airport to hotel. Weekend pass sounds like a good deal.
