I know. Anyone who says they wouldn't look to profit off this thing while the getting is good, is much richer than me.

It'd be a nice downpayment on nearly anything you can imagine.

    Hey guys,

Was just curious if anyone scored one of these on RSD? I wasn't aware of them until a friend told me and I googled it and it looks very cool! Does this thing play like a normal record, just kind of wondering because if I do pursue one, I did want to spin it. If it is more of just a cool looking prop, I might pass but this thing immediately caught my attention when I heard about it. Right now the prices I see on the bay are a little out of my price range. Sorry if there is a topic on this record, didn't see one.

    Thanks

yes it plays as a regular vinyl, they were sold only at Third Man Records store or at the Rolling Record Store...

As weird as it is, here we are days later still talking about it. They are selling for many, many times the original price ( one for +3grand) and people camped out in the cold rain over night for a record! :corn:

Sounds like a successful add and selling campaign!
He should run for something..

video of record playing and reviews with leakage issues

That is an insanely idiotic product if it leaks, and according to the guy's comments on the vid, it is likely that it will. Wow - talk about gimmicky!! Glad I didn't get sucked into buying that (because yeah, I might have been suckered in if I'd seen something that cool in the record store).

mines on youtube. user is mrlftdaporch

some care instructions. immediatley on getting home i ran a line of epoxy around the outer edge since it is essentially 2 records glued together. also photod the liquid so i can match it later, since these will all evaporate since it is a water based liquid.

I didn't want to give you away, porch. I also think you misunderstood my syntax on that other place...our haven.

I obviously believe these exist. I just couldn't believe they exist, ya know. I mean, such a thing is crazy to think it should exist and would be considered a good thing to reproduce. I for one would be VERY nervous to spin it on anything I valued. You never know...

But I would have loved to be in line with you just to hold it for a few seconds after you got one.

But seriously, have you ready the YouTube poster's comments about the leakage?? This is what he says (credits in youtube link above), and I can't fucking believe it, seriously. You have to pad your turntable and super glue the thing before playing? Huh?? Why would anyone do this, lol! Really dumb product!

"If you haven't already figured it out, this baby is FRA-GILE. Just read TMR's warning label - haha! Several records were leaking at the POS and mine leaked as soon as I took it out of the sleeve. I highly recommend taking measures to protect and preserve your record. To prepare the record for transport I used Super Glue - said to bond vinyl - to put several thin layers in the exposed post hole edge. I also re-plugged the fluid injection whole that had stuck to the sleeve when I removed the record (the source of my leak.) I had the record packed by Fedex, checked it as baggage, TSA opened and inspected it and the record arrived intact and DRY.

TMR 12" post holes can be tight. Whatever you do DON'T force this onto the turntable or torque it in any way. I stacked several slip mats onto the player until the record sat just enough to be centered.

In the future I intend to seal the outside edge, check the plug regularly, store it upright, and take a photo digital photo to document the color of the liquid (water and food coloring) in case it ever needs to be filled again."

they have a disclaimer on the label stating they do not guarantee the longevity of the product. i mean we are dealing with a place that let a secondary market of about 5 million dollars worth of vinyl released into the sky via helium balloons.

Really?? That's pretty cool! I hope people didn't also have to pay $100 for a balloon record, lol!

Yeah, that helium balloon thing is insane. I'd think the best way to transport that filled record is to pack it among dry ice. If it's not alcohol, then it'll freeze in place (and hopefully not expand). Record should be safe for travel at that point.

And porch, grab me a balloon, will 'ya? Help an OG bootleg brother out. :D

Good luck to him. Every time I get vinyl sent to Canada by USPS it looks pretty banged up. Actually just got my new PJ20 Soundtrack vinyl today delivered by USPS and it looks like they sent it through a car wash a couple of times and then drove over it with their truck before delivering it to me. Luckily the guy who sent it to me wrapped it thickly with other packaging inside the outer box! And luckily the vinyl isn't a delicate shell full of liquid, lol.
