Bad News About PJ In US in 2012?

I was reading a story about Delunafest, and noticed this interesting quote from the festival's booking manager:

"Pearl Jam is a band that doesn't do anything that they don't want to do," DeLuna Fest booking manager Gus Brandt said. "I think they're only doing two shows in America this year, so for DeLuna Fest to be one of them is a big deal."

Now this guy might not know what the hell he's talking about, but with Ed's injury and nothing else announced, or even rumored (except the 2nd of those shows, in ATL), so maybe he does. Against my better judgment, I was hoping that September might be some sort of mini-US tour.

Oh well. :) Very happy for everyone in FL/GA who are or may be getting some shows!

    Serious?

I was at Jazz Fest, and don't remember this. But that's good to know...

Also, consider the source. Its not like Kelly or Tim saying they're only playing 2 shows. Its some guy who might only know of 2 shows (but who has no idea what the rest of their year looks like).

I hope if they are not doing more than the two dates they let us know so we can make the call to drop the cash to go on the trip. If they do it like Eurpoe festivals you would have to think there would be a few PJ only show sprinkled in :D

I've gotta agree, I just don't see why they'd do an East Coast or West Coast tour this year with no album to promote. A handful of festivals makes perfect sense from their point of view
    2000: Manchester
    2006: Dublin; Leeds; Arnhem
    2007: London
    2009: Manchester
    2012: Manchester I & II : EV Manchester : Soundgarden Shepherds Bush
2013: Brad Manchester : Soundgarden Manchester
2014: Amsterdam I & II; Berlin; Leeds; Milton Keynes
2018: Berlin; London II; Boston II

it would be nice to see a tour of the southeast. they did 05 & 08 with no records to promote. they've toured every year since 03. i think all bets are off. it's going to be interesting to see what shakes out. charlotte or va beach!! i'm long overdue a pj show. circumstances (bills, moves & work) prevented me from the last couple of tours. i just wanna scream HELLO!

I could actually live with a year without PJ. Saw them 4 times in 2008, 4 times in 2009, twice in 2010, and twice at Alpine in 2011. If there wasn't a true tour until 2013, I'd be fine with that.

I have no idea why anyone thought they'd be doing any kind of tour in the US this year in the first place. There has never been anything to even hint at this, and considering their schedules and the fact that they are also working on an album, I never thought it was even a little bit likely.... Patience people. They'll tour in 2013 with a new album.

Probably because the celebrated PJ20 with only 2 US shows and then hit everywhere else. ;)

Fair enough... but they weren't in the middle of making an album and doing a Euro tour and EV wasn't having to do a solo tour in the fall last year, so it just never even crossed my mind that they might squeeze in some kind of US tour this time. :)

Yep, but it never crossed my mind that they do all that during PJ20 and not play the US except for 2 back to back shows. I'm pretty shocked at how things turned out really.

But since I got to hit PJ20, Im good. ;)

They do it all the time... the 08 tour... the 09 mini-tour (before B/S came out). They like to play for a few weeks in large areas (east coast or west coast), make quick $$ and then go into hiding for a while. I'm not saying that in a bad way... but they seem to like small tours in bigger markets.

2005 they had the avocado album written already and went out and played canada and south america and didn't play 1 new song, do you really think they would haul all their equipment to florida to play 1 or 2 shows?

Yes but you must understand that RM22 must disagree with what the majority of people say. If everyone was saying no way, no tour, doesn't make sense, then he would come in and say it makes perfect sense and that it would happen.

haha, true, but still I just don't see the point, no way PJ's only US show would be in Florida. People here were saying they are touring the midwest in early september, so we could be looking at a 3 week tour which would be the most extensive tour they have done in some time

3 week tours are the new norm for them.

People actually thought they would be touring the US before the album is released?

    Why would people think this?

I've gotta agree, I just don't see why they'd do an East Coast or West Coast tour this year with no album to promote. A handful of festivals makes perfect sense from their point of view

 I don't see why they would do a Europe tour with no albulm to promote
