Yeah, that's right. I'm going to see Creed tomorrow night. And it's not the dude from The Office. I'm not proud of this at all but my brother-in-law got tickets and needed someone to go with him. Because it's my wife's brother, it's sort of a free pass for me to go out and get a little hammered in Chi-town without any consequences. Totally worth it, right?

Sometimes you take one for the team. Went to Nickleback with one of my wifes friends......GA no less, I had to stand and stare at Nickelback all night.

You're a good brother in law and are seeing the positiev in it. A easy excuse to go out and get loaded and have a good time (regardless if it's Creed).

i had the same scenario happen with my brother in law once. he took me to see Larry the Cable Guy. nothing could be worse than seeing Larry the Cable Guy. not even creed. and to make matters worse, contrary to your brother in law, my brother in law doesn't drink.

i did not laugh a single time the entire evening...and you can only imagine the type of crowd that an event like that draws.

nothing wrong with taking one for the team. maybe you guys will have a bonding experience.

Never a bad thing to go and have a good time with someone special. If it gets you out with a buddy, loaded in Chicago? Not bad at all.

You can always get some thick earplugs and f-around on your phone or something if you are not enjoying the show.

Just get insanely loaded before the show, that usually makes any experience okay  I dated a guy in high school who thought I loved Creed (yeah totally clueless) so he took me to see them as a surprise. I tried my hardest to be nice and pretend like I was happy but by the time they played With Arms Wide Open I had to run out of there as fast as I can....

All I remember is that when that damn song started two sweet bro-man-dude types were hugging each other and telling each other how much they loved each other. :fp:

I seen Creed a couple years ago for pretty much the same reason. My cousin really likes them and she won tickets on the radio to see them. She had never been to a concert before and couldn't find anybody else to go with her. She didn't even ask me to go because she knows I don't like them but I ended up saying I'd go. I would have felt bad if she would have just stayed home.

I've seen Creed several times in concert, most notably when they were first starting out as a band in Tallahassee....nothing to be ashamed of bro....Tremonti kills it...and I sat next to Scott Phillips (drummer) during a TOOL show recently...they can't be all that bad, except Stapp..sometimes he goes off the deep end! I went to a Creed show for similar reasons way back, didn't have to pay and drank for free etc. But Alice in Chains opened (after Layne of course, I think when Jerry was singing) so that was kinda cool but as soon as Creed came on I (we all lost our buzz) and was completely sickened by their performance. We were so hammered but still disgusted. It was that bad which I really need not tell anyone on this board.

So just make sure you are really really really drunk. Almost like the college days of wearing beer goggles if you know what I mean :D

I'll never forget when I saw them, a grown man in the front row kept holding his hat up all night long and finally Scott Stapp took it from him and put it on his head for a minute and then handed it back to the dude. I have never in my life seen a grown man jump up and down like a little girl who just met Justin Bieber. It was amazing and I almost pissed my pants laughing. But hey, whatever makes you happy.

I knew it was gonna be Creed before I even opened the thread.

Hope you have fun. I'll be skipping them when they come to do the Alaska State Fair this summer...even though hardly any bands ever come up here. I just don't want one of the few bands I've seen in Alaska to be Creed.

Now, substitute Alter Bridge and I'm there! :P

You can never know how good something is until you have a frame of reference for how bad it can be.

I saw Creed once.. They opened for the Tea Party (best canadian band ever!!) many years ago at Clutch Cargo in Pontiac Michigan..

I wasnt impressed.. and that was even before I (or maybe anyone) knew who they were..

Drink lots of drinks and try to have a good time!!

the people watching must be awesome....keep in mind these people paid hard US currency to see this band....you must ask some of them "Why?"...probably the same people who voted for Obama

I saw Creed in high school (pre 2000 1998? 99?) because it was the only concert my friend's extremely conservative parents would allow her to go to  tells you what sort of crowd you might be in for :-)
You'll have an okay time because you seem to have a good attitude about things. Lemons and lemonade, ya know?

Oh and I think the disownment procedures only occur with those involving Nickleback.:lol:

saw them at a local annual radio festival back in 98. Feel better bro! Our Lady Peace and Foo Fighters played after, so not all bad. no worries.

My 15 year old sister wants to see some new boy band called One Direction, so it could be much worse. ;)

I appreciate all of the positive responses, everyone. I will definitely try to make the most of it. Although the last concert I saw at this particular venue was EV and Glen Hansard. But it sounds like the opening band is good, so I have that to look forward to. Having said that, maybe I'll start drinking now ...

A few of my PJ friends have sent me this:
