Solat13 wrote:Now it got me thinking that Philadelphia has had some awful, awful mayors in its history - Mayor Goode and Street come to mind immediately, but seriously how the fuck did Cincy ever elect Jerry Springer as mayor back in the day.
If you're from Cincy are you embarassed or proud of that fact? I'll wait to hear Fanch's response on this later.
Wow, lots of Fanch-related trivia today. This is also true; Springer was our mayor (this was pre-tv) some years ago. Apparently the brother paid a hooker with a check and got busted. Dumbass.
ANother piece of trivia - I dated a babe in college who was a theater major and she and friends conjured up a story and ended up on Springer. I was working one night and friends barged into Subway "Jim you won't believe WHO I saw on TV last night!". All true.
Additionally, I love getting home from work at 5:30.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0 -

Well, you all missed a very sweet night. The weather was perfect and it won't be repeated. Some day you may learn to follow the lead of Mike and myself. Cool things happened and the view was spectacular.
Music, conversation, and cold beer. I'd say we are starting the summer off right Mike. All of that and I still got home in time to enjoy a little of my high speed internet connection before going to sleep.
Thanks again VW for a great night.support The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

The first is live there at your own risk pretty much, and the latter is my area...blue collar middle class and you won't get shot walking down the sidewalk. For some reason, I just clicked the activism link on pj.com and found out what charitable cause the donations were made for the Philly shows.
Obviously we all know what night 1 went to - The Innocence Project.
Night 2 went to The Spiral Q Puppet Theater seeks to mobilize communities and illuminate the victories, frustrations and possibilities of living in the neighborhoods of Philadelphia and similar urban settings through the construction of full-scale giant puppet parades, toy theater and neighborhood pageantry.
Through its puppet parades and pageants, Spiral Q is resurrecting and reclaiming an almost forgotten form of people's theater to amplify and unite the power and vitality of those working for change through art-making, protest, and civic theater.
I am pissed I gave money to freaking jackasses who made Philly a traffic gridlock for the Republican Convention. Stupid hippies.
I am pretty upset about this because that is a cause I never would have donated money to.- Busted down the pretext

Hats off to the Heat and congrats to Shaq, Flash, ZO, GP, J Williams and Pat Riley for engineering a hell of a title run when it was really looking bleak out of the gate. I'm a fan and I wasn't thinking they were gonna do it, and esp not that way.0
