So, yeah this is the first time I will ever have been in DC proper, and all I can say is WOW to the hotel prices. More like damn actually. I just never gave thought to DC possibly being more expensive than NY. It might just turn into a late night with a 3 hr return cruise. I'm not paying $150-200 for a room. Parking garage overnight camping trip would only cost me $25 roughly tho
I’m glad everything was a success at the fundraiser. From reading these posts I can see that there were way too many people that I didn't get to meet. My evening took an unexpected turn but everything worked out.
I apologize for not spending more time with everyone on Sunday. I tried to get my wife to come to the show when i found out that I had 2nd row seats. I was on the phone for a good 1 1/2 hours it seems, to say the least, trying to coordinate everything (babysitters, transportation, ticket exchange, etc). It turned out my 2nd row seats were not what one would expect and they were horrible (tucked as far to the right as possible, 4' inside the door to the room, with a HUGE speaker right in my face). My wife would not have been able to see anything. She is pregnant and the sound from that speaker would have blasted our new baby out and onto the lawn! After all of the arrangements were made to get her to the show, I told her not to come once I saw where I was sitting.... unbelievable. It hurt but it was for the best. The worst part though was I had predicted Throw Your Arms Around me for the pre-set (her favorite song), and he played it. I had her on the phone so we could listen to it together and some big fat dude in front of me started breaking ass and I had to leave. That, however, was the last of my bad luck.
My friend had 5th row center stage tickets and I moved in with them for the entire show. I didn't miss a beat. It was just incredible. My calves are bruised from the bar on the seat behind me, but that's a small price to pay.
The poster sales were crazy. I hated going in early and missing out on meeting people but there is no way I would have gotten any posters if I hadn't. They sold out within 20 minutes. The inside booth was out of them in 12 and the outside shortly after. Next to last year's sales on the 10c, that was the hardest time I've ever had getting a print. It is a nice poster.
I've not seen any comments on here about Ed's fit(s) of rage during the show. There is way too much to discuss in writing so hopefully I will be able to talk with some of your tonight about what I saw versus what you all saw. His emotion made for an amazing show. Anyone there on Sunday was treated to an exceptional performance by the band (not to mention a KILLER set). My only regret is that my wife wasn't there with me.
FANCH I would have loved to spend more time with you. You are a super individual. Thanks for making the trip to our area and I hope you had a great visit. Hopefully you'll keep the poster as a memento of the weekend. I didn't like it at first because they had it on display wrong at the stands. It is a horizontal print. I think it's supposed to be a flock of birds and it really looks cool.

Again, not enough time spent there. VW I'm glad we finally got to talk too and you got your posters. Did you send me a text message? Somebody did. I didn't even know my cell could do that. I have an old proto type cell phone that is 4 years old and basically useless when it becomes important to use. It is a Nextel. I wasn't able to get any reception at that place...very frustrating.
I have very little on my plate for these last three shows- "no encumbrances" to quote George Costanza. I will make up for lost time with everyone. I have a ton of work to get done now before I leave for DC. I'm looking foreword to yet another great show..."You got to know there's another, another, another..."
Hey Lew, good time talking to you and your friends yesterday!! I agree with ya on Eddie, he was in a mod last night. According to one of the threads on here apparently he was pissed at a photographer up front. He was intense, after he stormed off the stage Sean and I just looked at each other like WTF?!!

That was crazy and nobody immediately around us seemd to even think that Ed was for real. I did. He went off. Threw the guitar and stormed off....he did make me question it though when they had the very, very short set break and he came out and sememd to have collected himself already. When he had his tantrum, which I definitely added something to the show that was already there energy-wise with Ed anyway, Mike and Jeff were still playing of course to finish up but you could see them looking back across the stage into the corner where Ed stormed off to.
Lew, thanks for coming up and intro'ing yourself. Sucks about the wife and all the Mission Impossible logistics for nothing in the end. Can I get my own sentence next time? I don't want people getting the Frick and Frack idea with me and Bob. We do coordinate our outfits come the evening before a show but that's about it. We do our own hair, etc.

1. "I'm wearing jeans because I don't like my legs."
2. "Those can't be silhouettes of Julie on the Goblet of Fanch because their heads and shoulders don't extend up and over the rim of the cup."
well here's my first post since the shows and I'll make it short because I left my laptop at home.... great shows... the band seemed to take the cue from sat's crowd and revv up the energy more on sunday
the tailgate was awesome.. great to see and meet everyone.. like lew I wish I could have talked and met more people... sean, nicole and everyone helping out the CCFA great fucking job... its people like you that make this band and its fans unbelievable.....
next onto DC and then NYC for Storytellers.. don't know how the fuck maureen and I are getting there but it will work out in the end... hopefully I'll get to meet up with some of you guys in DC tonite.. figure there will be time for RFD before the show but doubt that I'm going anywhere but to bed afterwards...
again a great weekend and I'm happy I got to share it with all of you.. took about 500 pics, 50 or so of the tailgate, the rest of the show sunday but most were blurry although I do have a few gems... and a couple of short vids of MOTH and LEASH.. motherfucking LEASH two night in a row.. fuck Boston
Let's get this week over with and I can start looking forward to VEGAS!!! and then the pinnacle of the summer's events THE GORGE

a few things:

I’m glad everything was a success at the fundraiser. From reading these posts I can see that there were way too many people that I didn't get to meet. My evening took an unexpected turn but everything worked out.
