so save time and buy online-its only a matter of time before stores dissapear completely

Wait, there is the reason for buying local. Buy local so every town/city doesnt have the exact same stores and buy local to keep stores from disappearing altogether!

Unless there is a cheaper price online, or I can't find it local, I would always rather just go out and buy something. As has been mentioned, there is the instant gratification and no waiting. But also things can happen in shipping. Things get lost or damaged. I just ordered 4 CDs from Amazon, and of the 4 only only 1 didn't have to be sent back. One was the entirely wrong album, and two of the others were damaged. A crack in the case in one and in the other the CD had come loose from the retainer and been bouncing around inside getting scuffed up.

And if you ever order something like a Pearl Jam CD, or anything that comes in digipack style soft packaging, 9 times out of 10 for me it gets bent in some fashion.

When you buy in person you can inspect the goods (for the most part) before you buy them. And not have to deal with the bullshit of sending something back, e-mails back and forth, and then the extra wait.

Too late. big business has ruined it for everyone and in these hard times it only makes sense to look after yourself.

If the price is equal, I don't see an argument here. (i.e. go local) Save your Paypal money for something that you have no other option than to buy elsewhere.

winner- i'll use paypal funds for an item I have no choice but to buy online.

I will go today and purchase my item from the local store.

    Thanks all.

I wish I had a dime for every time I've seen you make that, or a similar, comment. I get it, you don't buy CDs, but I'm all out of cookies.

That's possible, but somebody made that exact same comment to me a month or so ago, which is why I figured it was you, and have had it said to me in one way or another a dozen or so more times.

why buy a digital album when you can get a physical cd with liner notes for often the same price, sometimes cheaper?

I still buy CDs...from Easy Street. They're local.

Buying local keeps the businesses running, it keeps people employed, it keeps unemployment down.
It also stimulates the local economy...if there are signs of a strong/improving economy, people look favorably towards that community, maybe they will visit that city, which further boosts the economy.

I keep this in mind...I will even go to a locally owned business to buy locally made products rather than buying a similar item at a big box store.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
