The thing I like most about time is that it's not real. It's all in the head. Sure, it's a useful trick to use if you want to meet someone at a specific place in the universe and have tea or coffee- but that's all it is- a trick. There is no such thing as the past. It exists only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future. It exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate, the only thing they would ever say is "Now". That's what time it is. It's "Now". - Damien Echols

1st R rated movie I saw in the theatre with my MOM! She was a huge Eddie fan and was embarrased because of the language and pussy talk. I was 12.

I miss the pre-PC days. I try really hard with my boys, not raise them so sheltered (for lack of better word) and yes quite a few other moms (including my mother-in-law) don't approve of how 'liberal' I am.

Well sure, but I can only pick 5! I could go on forever with 80's movies I love, but drinkbigredinstead is killing me with this oppressive "Pick 5" system. To be honest even if it was "Pick 100" I'd still be leaving off some of my favorites.

Those would probably be on my list too, if we were doing Top 10. But on the subject of John Carpenter, I should have had The Thing on my list. It's one of my all-time favorites. When I think "80's Movies" though all these comedies pop in my head, and movies like The Thing are often forgotten.

Have you seen the "prequel" yet? I just rented it, it wasn't great. It was less a prequel and more of a remake or re-imagining, because they copied so much from the original.

The amazing thing is that the old special effects from the original actually look better than the fancy new CGI effects they used for this one.
