Just got home and holy shit was that amazing. After last night, I wasn't expecting a much better show from the crowd and Eddie being sick, but I was wrong.

Ed came out to a version of Small Town on the speakers that I've never heard before and he came out and led the sing-along to the last part of the song. After that it was a typical few songs until Sometimes, which was awesome and then into Masters of War. He nailed it completely.

He then went to the Into the Wild stuff which was awesome, just as the night before. When he came out with the Mandolin, the "Youk" cheer started with Ed saying "I see you have identified the Yuke, too bad its a fuckin' Mandolin" He then gave up on Goodbye about 3/4 into it and just put the Yuke aside. Before breaking into Driftin' there were some major harmonica problems. He tried playing one then threw it off the stage saying he needed a new one, then got a new one. He hated that one and then saying it was probably his fault. Then after Driftin, he got yet another harmonica, which still sucked but he played through with it missing a few notes.

He had a hilarious speach leading into Millworker talking about how James Taylor is a bad-ass motherfucker and to tell him that when you see him on the street, to which he would reply, get the fuck away from me, cause he's a bad ass.

Forever Young was dedicated to a girl Lindsay who wrote him a note about how PJ has changed her life and how she's now doing stuff with her life like writing music and getting people to vote instead of watching TV and voting for american idol. After Forever Young, Eddie put the spotlight on Howard Zinn who was in the audience and said he was thinking about him during the song.

Growin' Up was intro'd with a quick speech saying he was going to play it since anyone at his show was missing the Bruce concert and this was to rub salt into the wound.

Arc was amazing. Ed was a bit more rough on the crowd today at one point making a crack about how anytime anyone screamed all he could here was "I am an idiot." The crowd tonight was 1000x times better than last night, at least in the lower half. The shouting during the songs was at a minimum and there weren't too many asshole song requests. I gotta get off to bed though, but there were a ton of posters at the show, so there's no need to pay that fuckin ninersfan for one.

the start of the show was amazing, you almost couldn't tell that it was Ed singing Small Town, it was so different, but by the end we all said HELLO as Ed started to lead us...best start to a show of the 5 I've been blessed to see. Sometimes was such a great surprise. Masters of War may have been the best version I've heard him sing. Last night I was 2nd row, tonight 4th row mezzanine. I thought the crowd wasn't as loud, but they were better behaved. Regardless, Ed was pleased. At one point a bango was beind Ed, but then it disappeared before Society. Ed seemed to be feeling much better tonight, he definitely was more focused on the Mandolin, but lost Goodbye half way through on "Luke". Some massive harmonica technical difficulties, after going through two, he settled on a third, but threw that also after Hide Your Love Away. He threw in some additional songs before Society including Don't Be Shy, Growing Up, and Wishlist.

Two memorable nights...as always, Thanks Ed!

great to hear Masters of War tonight. I first heard Ed do it at one the Bridge school Sows back in 2001 I think. That was one of the things that got me hooked on Pearl Jam. It may be a Dylan song, but Eddie has definitely made it his own.

Great show tonight, the crowd was much better behaved. I loved when he told the audience that there was magic in the air at the Opera House. That no matter what they yelled out, all he could hear on stage was 'I am an idiot " That was classic. Later some idiot in the balcony yelled out " I am an idiot " Ed said ... see.. I told you , then he laughed !!

First off, "THANK YOU 10c." 5th row, dead center. I always love the acoustic shows (Boston3, 7-11-03) so I knew this show would be special from the start.
As soon as we got inside and saw the poster, we realized tonight was not going to be like the nightmare stories I heard from the night before. The picture doesn't do the poster justice. All the blue on the poster is glitter blue. This is by far the best poster I've ever seen. By the way, we were there when the doors first opened. The guy before me bought a ton of posters and had a folding case to put them in. I wanted to ask him if he knew one Eddie Vedder song. I'm not sure if he even stayed.
While we were sitting in our seats waiting for the show to begin, they starting bringing people down from the menz/balc to the front three rows for "ticket upgrades." Just watching these people made you feel happy for them. There is one step down into the "pit" area and alot of them didn't realize it was there because they were so excited. Everyone behind the first three rows were in 10c seats.
Eddie starting out with a "sing along", then telling us he "wasn't going to put up with the same shit as last night", showed he was going to make some changes and take control of his show. Which he did like the pro that he is.
At one point Eddie told the crowd that "if you yell something, all he can hear is: I am a idiot". So after one of the songs finished, someone yelled out "I am a idiot". We yelled up to Eddie that "he asked for it" and got a great smile out of him. He really seemed like he was having alot of fun and you would have never known if he was sick at all.
Masters of War, Millworker and 3/4 of Goodbye were great, but Forever Young was the highlight of the show for me. Also, paying respect to "The Boss" with Growin Up was a very close second.
Get there early to see Liam Finn. Very talented, interesting show. Thank god for the loop recorder. He takes it to the next level.
    THANK YOU AGAIN 10C

  • Amazing show! I got shut out of 10C presale but picked up tickets on Ticketmaster. Was in the Mezzanine, so the location could have been better but it didn't matter, the music was absolutely breathtaking. Ed was pretty funny, and the spin he put on his songs was terrifc. Loved Elderly opener, Masters of War, Porch was kickin'. I've always loved Driftin' and despite the harmonica issues it was still awesome. Hard Sun was killer and ARC gave me chills. I brought my 2 sisters who aren't die hards like myself and they couldn't stop raving.

I can't wait for Toronto! Sure wish I could have scored 10C seats, but I'm in the building so it doesn't matter! Great show, thank you Ed!

    Night 2= 8 million X better than Night 1!!!!!

the crowd, though still containing a number of douchebags, was sooooo much better and respectful of the situation. Probably didn't hurt that eddie said he wasn't going to put up with shit. Eddie was in a waaay better mood. not only did he sound fantastic, he was hilarious!!! I love the obama sign bit.

He was also subtly encouraging everyone to be as classy as their surroundings ("is this your first time in velvet seats?") & I thought he handled it perfectly. The Obama sign thing was funny...you knew he was joshing with us when he told us he was giving up on public politics commentary... ;)

I thought night 2's crowd was rediculous. The show was better than night 1 but I thought the crowd was so ignorant. I had a lady behind me talk the whole time. What a joke.

It's crazy that Howard Zinn was there, having him and Eddie in the same room together wow. It's funny how random things like that can happen, you never know who's sitting a few rows behind you.

there were a ton of posters at the show, so there's no need to pay that fuckin ninersfan for one.

Unfortunately, they are already going for over $100 on ebay, so for those who want one, might have no choice. Unreal. On principle I refuse to pay that much, even if I had a limitless bank account.

I was gonna call you, not even sure if you cell # is the same, but was so busy on my short 4 days in Boston. Just got back from the Red Sox game, front row center on the GREEN MONSTER, what a great place to see a game, at least 5 balls of the monster during the game.

I'm done now, stick a fork in me, other than bridge school, which PJ is playing, I doubt I'll see much else this year, though I'll be living in Seattle for a month end of AUG - end of SEP, you never know :D

    I'll pm you,

I laughed out loud for that comment. But then I thought to myself probably someone from the pit...the same person that would be on the board and he's the person that would put some corny statement to lighten a thread during some heated discussion. At least that was my opinion of the event....

Ok I am just going to say it. Did anyone else have like completely spirital moment(s) last night. And I am not saying just the concert. The whole package. My drive into town, really deep thoughts perhaps it was the rain. Walking around Chinatown was amazing, all the colors, the people, the banners, the gate, mural and the lion leading into that area. Having a drink at the bar next door. Walking into the BEAUTIFUL opera house to seeing an amazing concert. Sometimes, Man of the Hour, Masters of War WOW. Arc I had tears running down my face.

I just can not put into words how I feel today. It's pretty overwhelming in some many good ways.

I fought back tears a few times friday and saturday night.

I closed my eyes for a lot of the show on saturday and just focused on the sound in that theater.

I'm sad now, no more PJ, no more eddie for a while!

I absolutely did. The whole day was unreal. Something about the lightning and heavy rain before the show was inredible. I have a hard time believing that any of yesterday happened.:D

I feel the same way. So I thought, why not drive up to Montreal this weekend. I am sure we can get 10C seats at the party. Feel like taking a road trip with a complete stranger that shares your post EV depression? I really think I am going to do it.
