I don't pretend to know anything about general population but what I see on TV dramas.
I haven't watched any docs or read up on the hierarchy.
I watched this young man on the news a few times yesterday. Pretty easy to see the facade
and the wall he has put up. Maybe that wall will come down crashing when he is humbled
in prison, maybe not.
Please don't mistake this as sympathy or even compassion just trying to understand.
He is his parents and the product of a child without loving bonds. His anger comes
from self hate and hate towards the world who he perceives as thinking
he was never good enough.
Jealous of the loving parents and good life he thinks his victims had.
I guess there was no help for him when it was needed, and no help in prison besides perhaps
finding forgiveness in the hands of God.
This I pray for him to turn his heart from cold to gold.
He can still do good. He has his whole life to live by his heart.
Lane was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murders of three Chardon High students last February. Daniel Parmertor and Demetrius Hewlin, both 16, and Russell King Jr., 17, were killed in the shooting.
Guess he could always appeal on the basis that his brain is not fully formed and he did not really understand all the consequences -when he killed, when he pleaded guilty, his attitude.... Seems to be the thing to do...
CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — Wearing a T-shirt with "killer" scrawled across it, a teenager cursed and gestured obscenely as he was given three life sentences Tuesday for shooting to death three students in an Ohio high school cafeteria.
T.J. Lane, 18, had pleaded guilty last month to shooting at students in February 2012 at Chardon High School, east of Cleveland. Investigators have said he admitted to the shooting but said he didn't know why he did it.
Before the case went to adult court last year, a juvenile court judge ruled that Lane was mentally competent to stand trial despite evidence he suffers from hallucinations, psychosis and fantasies.
Lane was defiant during the sentencing, smiling and smirking throughout, including while four relatives of victims spoke.
After he came in, he calmly unbuttoned his blue dress shirt to reveal the T-shirt reading "killer," which the prosecutor noted was similar to one he wore during the shooting.
At one point, he swiveled around in his chair toward the gallery where his own family members and those of the slain teenagers were sitting and spoke suddenly, surprising even his lawyer.
"The hand that pulls the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory," he said, then cursed at and raised his middle finger toward the victims' relatives.
Anyone still feeling sorry for this piece of shit :corn:
Empathy/sympathy not really my strongsuit, but honestly reading this insanity does make me wonder whether he was fit to stand trial. Unless it was just an act in hopes of getting a last minute insanity plea? I'm clearly no lawyer.
Yeah, the fully developed brain defense won't work for him nor those Ohio rapists,
kind of gives the premise a bad name when in real life in real teens making choices
it is real plausible.
Funny how i got through school, which would mean i ran across a lot of friends and names from that time. Plus playing sports while growing up, probably ran across 10,000 or more different people. Not much for a general population, but I don't recall our under devleoped brains making us rape or kill anybody. Some people are just fucked up whether their brains are developed or not.
The fact this kid had that shirt on under his other one with killer on it and then gave the finger. Drama queen who knows his days of exposure are at an end. Have fun learning how to go to the bathroom without muscle control, buddddddd-e!

My thoughts are that you don't try someone as an adult unless they are an adult.
It seems as if the only criteria that affects whether kids are tried as adults is the severity of the crime.
If you wouldn't try them as an adult for shoplifting, you shouldn't for murder.
