to an extent i agree, but i'm starting to feel like they are just too much of a jukebox. i mean you can count on hearing: even flow, daughter, small town, better man, do the evolution, rvm, and corduroy damn never every night or every other night. how about a set list that isn't all these standard issue songs.
i mean, i'm beyond certain this has been a nice show if you were in attendance, but i'd just like to see some variety.

I really don't want to be nasty here, but this seems to be quite a theme going on here in the Message Pit:

Maybe if you took a break from seeing them, let others have a chance, then maybe you wouldn't be so tired of hearing them live. I've only seen them once and if I see them 3 more times and they play all the same songs, that would be just fine by me!! It is a privilege to see Pearl Jam, not a right, so appreciate what they play, even if you have heard it a million times...

If you're bored of the songs, don't go to so many shows...

PS. Tonight's setlist looks real, and it's spectacular!!

I went to the Boston show last night. I don't know what songs they could have taken out, but I would love to have seen Black, Small Town, and Dissident. Some songs I don't seem to get sick of hearing, or seeing.

I hear ya. While I loved the Bob Dylan duo... MOTH, Black and Parachutes would have been sweet!

in a way i see what you're saying. they have a lot of other songs that they could play from their albums, but they also have to include the casual fan. the whole arena isn't filled with diehards. they need to have a balance...and those standards the casual fan WANTS to hear. but i see where you're coming from.

i know, i know. that's the really hard thing about seeing this band for me. i mean, when i was in chicago i had a terrible seat and i was next to a couple pj virgins who were just FLIPPING OUT when songs like even flow came on, so yeah, it's hard. i dont know. one of the toughest things is the fact that most of my favorites ARENT the big songs too. so even if i only saw them one in a blue moon small town and daughter, etc ARENT the songs that i would really really want to hear.
it's a tough balance. i'd just like to not be able to easily pick out 6 or 7 songs every night. maybe if you took that list of like 10 or so standards and kept it to 3-4 a night would be better? just a thought.
obviously i'm not complaining TOO much when i'll drive 6 hours (alone) to and from a show to see them...so take what i'm saying with a grain of salt.
i guess it just amazes me to see people (on here) get excited about a song like do the evolution...when it's played every night, that was sort of my original point.

Evenflow will never leave the set list because Eddie needs his smoke break.

I'm glad they finally played Parachutes live.

It's a great song, but I really think the Beatles' version is better.

    haha..and a drink.
  • I'm sitting here enjoying the updates, but now I'm actually getting pissed off at some of these comments. Have you ever seen another band's show? Pearl Jam plays for 2 1/2 hours plus, usually 26-30 songs, and just because 8 or 10 of them are played regularly, people complain. Jesus Christ. Speaking of which, I'm hoping for Tremor Christ in July. Anyway, every show is different and they're about to play Leash. WTF more do you want.

as i made a point of in another post, the other problem is the fact that the big songs arent really my favorites, even if i only saw them once...period.
i understand everyone's point of pleasing of the average joe.
i was making the point as much about everyone on here getting so excited over anything as anything else.

Your post will be totally overlooked by those who don't want to hear it, but trust me a lot of us feel the same way. Nice post.
