How's all the debate going from you "informed citizens"? Lots getting accomplished, lots changing? Still relying on your specific political party for answers or a political direction? I would hope not.... At what point do you all wake up and dismiss the two major parties and move towards a different direction? Our system is bought and paid for...we are all just as good as our ss number... arguing otherwise is merely delusion. Stop participating in the system and things will get better over time.

I think we are all aware, to some degree or other, that the two party system is at best flawed and that true change is in order but I don't think you will motivate anyone to be more active by implying that we are sleep walking or sarcastically calling us "informed citizens". People who see themselves as being highly enlightened and believe they have all the answers are only deceiving themselves. For example, most if not all of my personal activist heroes are wonderful people who in some fundamental way are also flawed. We're all just crawling toward the lamp, and none of us has it all figured out.

I don't presume to know everything or anything of the sort. I do however have an astute eye for seeing what does not work. Our nation is too wrapped up in minute, naive details because it is far easier to argue about controversies, fear-mongering and finger-pointing than to actual learn, access and fix a problem. It's why little of importance changes in our nation and people keep going back to the well of all they wish to know for answers which are not there. These two quote aptly sum up why our nation has failed in its vision as a representative democracy and new experiment gone awry.

Who wields power is not important, provided that the same hierarchical structure remains always the same. - George Orwell

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic - Benjamin Franklin

    CONservative governMENt

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis
