I'm pretty sure my email has been hacked. I went ahead and changed by password a few days ago but I think it's been hacked again. How I know is some emails show as read when I haven't read them and some end up getting deleted and put in my trash folder when I know I didn't do that. I googled about this and it looks like it is possible to hack people's emails. Anynoe know if this is true that emal can be hacked? Oh and my phone is always in my pocket or in my hand...no exceptions so they didn't get it from my phone. :?

Change your password and security question.. Or was your security question far too easy to answer then in that case they have changed that too...but you should be able to get in all the time via SQ.

But WHY would anyone wanna hack your account firstly..

if you use your phone in the 'free wi-fi' areas...McDonalds, Starbucks, etc people can hack into your email, steal your password. Phones are pretty easy to hack into.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to hack my email? Also, I have been signed up for a few things over the past month or so that I know I would not sign up for. :?

Look at your outgoing messages. I have known a lot of people getting hacked over the past year and the reason was because whoever did it was using their account to send out spam. Usually they'll send it to everybody in your address book if you have one.

Could have been somebody who knows what they're doing covering their tracks. One of my friends who got hacked started getting taunting mails from the guy who hacked him, my friend said he was going to contact his provider and have them track him down (an empty threat I know) and the guy told him go ahead, the fake IP address would say he's in central China.

An address I don't recognize. I don't want to post it so no one emails it right yet. I wonder if there's a way to track this down. Like SatansFuton said fake IP addresses can be used by hackers but if this person left emails in my sent box they may not be the brightest light in the room. The emails were scattered over a three week span so it's not like they maybe forgot some "this time". :?

I meant to say BANK there, but you can contact your band too if you want. Maybe it will inspire a song.

A while back I received a notification that someone had accessed my email account from another country. I changed my login settings and now I get a password texted to me everytime I want to log on to my account using my computer.

My sister was hacked recently, and whoever did it sent out an email to all of her contacts saying she was on vacation in Belgium, was robbed, and needed money to get home. Belgium? It was weird.

About 6-7 years ago I reinstalled windows and my security software....as soon as I restarted, my security software began scanning emails I was not aware I was sending....1 of 1, 1 of 2, 1 of 3, 4, 5 etc.....soon my whole screen was covered in those little norton pop-ups saying it was scanning emails. it scanned like a thousand outgoing emails in a minute. Sooooo...obviously my account was the one sending you all viagra ads!

do you use gmail on just your phone or your pc too? (sorry i didn't read all the posts)
cuz i had a virus the other week that seemed to me as if my email had been hacked
i had stuff going out and coming in and being returned as undeliverable when i knew it was deliverable

and GEEEZUZZZ i can't remember the name of the virus..but Kapersky virus killer app on their main page worked wonders..not the virus scanner..the virus removal tool..the first one on the top covers whatever bug it was plus a lot more new ones..this one was brand new

maybe try it? its free...and it can't hurt, right?

Yup...It can be a bit of a hassle at times, but it's worth it I think.

Sounds like a hassle but pretty secure though.

Tomorrow I'll start a new email address and try to remember everything that I have going to the old one that I need to switch. What a pain in the ass!
