Desperate and needing advice from a malpractice Lawyer

Hello,
We are desperate and are needing the advice of a malpractice lawyer. My wife had a bad back surgery back in April of 2011. An air bubble was left in her back, screws were to long and her nervous system was damaged. Since then her gall bladder got infected and had to be removed. Her back had a major infection. Most recently she had a major heart infection all caused by the back surgery. She originally had two bone fusions done. In Nov. of 2011 she had the infected hardware removed by a different surgeon. Now we just found out that since her heart still has a vegetation/growth in the fourth heart chamber she may not be able to get her back fixed anytime soon. We are willing to take desperate measures and sell our house if we need to just to take the surgeon and another doctor who broke patient confidentiality rights to court. My wife is only 28 years old. We have two kids and our lives have been destroyed by this. We have a lot of faith in this loving community and are pleading for some advice on what to do. If there are any malpractice lawyers on this forum please contact us by P.M. so we can discuss our options. I am unable to work but 15 hours a week so I can take care of my wife who is constantly at a pain level of an 8 and we are devastated by our circumstances. Please help us.

Good luck to you and your family. That's a shitty situation to be in. I hope you find a shark of a lawyer who rips those doctors to shreds and your wife get the treatment she needs to fully recover.0

I would start calling around telling your story to malpractice lawyers. Its a long road, but most lawyers who know you have a good case will take it on without any money upfront. You will have to get together things like getting all the medical records, all your bills and write the whole story in depth and detail and such information together for the lawyer. Most of that get forwarded to a doctor who can review your case to prove there is malpractice.
Im sorry about your wife this is a tragedy you are enduring. I hope things get better for you. I would look into getting social security disability benefits for you and your family plus other welfare agencies to help you all get by in these hard times. Im so sorry.
PS make sure its an atty you also feel comfortable with makes things easier, too.0 -

A lawyer should take your case with no money up front as this is a very winnable case. I'm sorry to see this! Brian said it before but I'll say it again, keep us posted.0

Contacting the media and getting your story out to your community may help in not only finding the lawyer you need but also in gathering the community around your cause. I would love to see this happen, I really feel for you both and want to see you triumph here. Please consider contacting a reporter! And please keep us posted.0 -
Shitty situation indeed. I hope everything works out for you and your family. It will take time... Stay strong, for yourself and your wife.
Not sure where you are from, but where I am, personal injury/malpractice attorneys only get paid if you get settlement... Its usually on a contingency basis, meaning the Attorney would get a percentage of your final settlement. Also, in the State of CT there is a 2 year statute of limitations...so you have 2 years from the date of the injury to file your claim in the Court system. Also, here, you need to find a surgeon in the same field/area of expertise as the surgeon you are looking to go after, who is willing to put in writing, his opinion that the surgeon was negligent in his treatment of the patient. That letter is required to even start the medical malpractice suit in the State of CT.
All states have different laws, so these things may not be the same where you are. Call around. Talk to people you know. Maybe someone you know has had good dealings with Attorneys in your area. You can likely check if any grievances have been filed against any Attorney on your state's judicial branch website...
If you have a good case, which it sounds like you may, an attorney will take the case. Most Attorneys will do free consultations also.
disclaimer: I am not an Attorney and cannot offer legal advice. Im simply a Paralegal who has experience in the personal injury field. Also, my boyfriend, also 28 yrs old has a few slipped/bulged discs in his back and has been contemplating, and ultimately putting off having back surgery himself...So your story kinda hit close to home for me.
I really hope things get better for you and your wife. Given the suffering that the individual has gone through, a doctor improperly completing the surgery, and a doctor breaking his confidentiality it seems pretty good that it is winnable.
Yet someone was able to sue McDonald's (and win) for spilling coffee on their body.
Edit: I can't say for certain, it's only my observation.0 -

Certainly, hence the edit to solidify this as my observation. I should have also put it in my OP0 -

in the past i have shared with you my mistrust of doctors and this another prime example
but
i'm sure there is an abundance of lawyers that would love to help you stick it to the medical "professionals" that fucked over your wife
and on a contingency basis

Thank you for your advice. We've been documenting the whole way, since we've had to let 75%-80% of our business go so I can take care of Shawna hopefully in the next few day's here she will requalify for government insurance again. Disability Insurance is a great idea. I am so strapped on time, the phones are always ringing off the hook so I hope to find some time for that one after we get a new PCP. Thank you so much for your concernJohn and Shawna0 -
