I'm captivated by this thread and the wild happenings!

Godfather, I've read a tiny bit about astral projection and not sure if it'd freak me the hell out (which I think it would) or if I'd just breathe and go along for the ride (which I hope I could).

    Strange goings-on in this world.

    I love it.

If that happened to me I'd freak out and be scared that I was dying or already dead. I've had dreams where I was dead and had to walk around letting my family, friends, and classmates know that I had died the previous night. I always wake up anxious when I have dreams like that so I can't imagine something like floating above my own body.

I can't either, but I do believe that dreams - most of them, anyway - do connect with our subconscious. What's happening or has happened in our lives, how we're processing the chaos (and the calm), what we're supressing.

And dreams also can take us in some way, and I don't know how, to somewhere outside ourselves.

ahhhhh....this thread, makes me think...in a good way.

Dreams can seem supernatural sometimes as well. When I was 8 or 9 or 10 or so I had a dream that I was being attacked by an evil spirit. I became semi-conscious but couldn't move a muscle and even though I was partly awake I still felt the evil spirit coming for me. Finally, with great effort I was able to start moving and got up. I walked down the hall toward my parents bedroom for their comfort and reassurance and just before I reached their bedroom door I found I couldn't move again. I can't remember what happened after that.

"Sleep paralysis is paralysis associated with sleep that may occur in healthy persons or may be associated with narcolepsy, cataplexy, and hypnagogic hallucinations."

Thank you! Knowing this has a definition, is not too uncommom and is connected with some very excellent sound words makes it seem better somehow!

I like the mystery of the supernatural. The inexplicable nature of it all.

They sit on your chest nasty creatures of evil... some looking beautiful ...some ugly but I never forget a face or their cruelty. They are very cruel and mean.

Its sometimes said its a astral being looking for their mates (incubus or succubus) but get the hell off of me because I aint it!

When masculine one visits he is usually not cruel. ;)

Godfather's post has prompted me to contribute my story:

Back in university (around 1992), I awoke one night hearing suppressed giggling from both sides of my bed. Then, it was as if an electric switch was turned on and my bed became energized buzzing beneath me.

Within seconds of this happening (I'm getting chills as I write this), the four corners of my comforter were pulled hard and downward- sucking me into my mattress.

I was panic-stricken- this was fucking intense. I tried to call out and resist, but the comforter was pulled too tight for me to do anything.

About 4-5 seconds later, I pushed up off my bed and the comforter- light as a feather- flew off me. I also yelled as I became free of my confinement. It was a strange, surreal yell- one I had never heard come from my body before (there was definitely a good dose of intense fear influencing the nature of my 'gasp'). The tiny voices I had heard faded away and I kneeled on my bed sitting there going, "Holy Fuck. What the Hell?"

I was reading Helter Skelter at the time which may have had my imagination running wild; however, the 'experience' I had was very physical- this was no dream.
before the little guys held me down a few days earlier I was laying on the hidabed in the front room watching "dallas" :D I saw and felt the blankets tightin up around my feet and I could see the impression on someone/something sit down on the bed at my feet off to the side and just watched for a second then said are you going to watch dallas with me ? and right after I said that I could feel the tightness from the blankets lift and the materess and blankets rise back to normal as who ever it was stood up, I thought at first it was just a loneley ghost or something but then a few days later is when those 3 little guys sat on me.

also when my kids & i went down to his funeral he was def making his presence known in their house. a container no where near the edge of the counter coming off & hitting the floor, another instance of the same thing but with a knife when no one was within several feet of those objects. a few times he turned off (they didn't burn out) the lights...

after my mom passed away in '00 about 6 months later in my house, the porch light would go on & off by itself...that went on for weeks. there was unexplained banging noises coming from my kitchen. then one evening my son & i were just discussing school stuff....i was standing in the kitchen as he stood in the dining room; when this glass candle thingy (like an oil lamp chimney) which was a good 5-6 inches from edge of the kitchen island in between us jumped up in the air and crashed to the floor :wtf: my son said 'holy shit! WTF was THAT!?' i replied "i'm pretty certain that was your grandma" then began sweeping up all the broken glass

    Godfather.

nothing at all like that experiance. i'm think she was ready to leave...she missed my dad alot. she had a stroke a few days before she died...i know for a fact that she never wanted to be dependant on anyone so she was ready to go as far as not wanting to linger in that state. though she didn't say goodbye to us...that could've been her way of doing it

now my dvd player turns itself off & on and opens & closes the disc tray. that's been going on several times a month for years...dunno if it's her or someone else that just wants to watch a movie :o

I hope this doesn't come off as a crass question...but do you think those visions are in the dying person's mind (quasi-hallucinations?) or a real - for lack of a better word - experience?

One of my many aunts - they're all gone now, unfortunately; my mom, the youngest, is the only one left of eight children - had a horrific stroke (aren't they all) in the late 90s. In a rare and subsequently-lucid moment, she told me that at some point in her mindmist, she saw two of her sisters who had already died...they were on the gangplank of a huge ship, suitcases in hand.

My aunt said she was ready to join them, but they told her no - it wasn't her time yet and she couldn't come aboard. She lived for another decade, most of them in semi-awareness.

    "and it makes me wonder"

To answer your question, I have absolutely no clue! I guess that's what makes it all so fascinating. My sis told me that when patients told her they witnessed their loved ones, they always passed within days... Some would talk to their loved ones with the nurses in the room, and ask the nurses if they could see them, but the nurses typically never saw anything, but sometimes noticed a sudden drop in temperature.

in the late 70's my dad was driving home after working the night shift at the prison. he was driving a chevy nova the 20 mile distance to and from work each day and every night. back and forth he goes.

one night a voice from behind him (as if there were a man sitting in the backseat had leaned forward and spoke loudly into his ear) and said to him, "pull your arm into the car", "there's gonna be an accident."

dad was like, wtf... :wtf: he pulled arm in, braced himself...

no bullshit...moments later a car coming at himself took out that side of dad's car smashing in the driver's door where his arm was hanging outside the window.

a drunk man and his buddy had just slammed into dad's chevy nova knocking him into the ditch and upside down.

    fact.

Its all bullshit .... anything mystical or unexplainable ... has no meaning anymore... all worthless fodder. Same goes with things like Love, Peace and Understanding. Hokey Crap... also is bullshit and has no meaning anymore. People? People are bullshit...all worthless fodder also there is no meaning anymore for them too. Nature? Nature is shit also dirty and polluted. Politics? Meaningless too, nobody cares. World is full of jerks even the ones who try to preach it. Art, music, film and books is crap dull and drab lack of inspiration and creation. Nasty cursed place. Any kind of movement of synchronization with your environment explainable or unexplainable is shit. That's how I feel about this world and its inhabitants. Nothing supernatural about that.

Nobody wants to keep the amazement and intrigue and wonder of the world ALIVE. And thats bullshit.

  • I ate my cynical pills. I hate everyone and everything except my dog. Really beginning to hate this forum, now that I think of it.
  •

    Too funny!

Im sorry, it was getting boring in here. I had to say something to get a reaction.
  • No, I really mean it, but it makes me laugh at myself and feel better when I write it and see it.

Seriously, there is no hope for mankind in the future unless they change NOW & time is running out and running up into a prick wall makes me say that and see very little change or the minimum is not good enough and sadly, it is my conclusion that makes me say that and thus, everything I hope, dream and had faith in mankind to make the change is worthless. They say, "pray" for a miracle, I did. I gave it to you and then I asked, "What did you do with it?"

But the only answer I see is it was squandered away.

Sad, really. It is not a matter of losing faith in the Heavens...its a matter of losing faith upon the people of this planet who were granted such a wonderful gift.

I get that cynical feeling, I do. Usually bites me in the ass when I unleash it on others ;)

Just be the change you want to see. Perhaps trite, but I believe it.

    Good thoughts to you.

It's hard to be cynical when you know how good you have it. And we all have it good, cause we're all alive. Take it from someone who nearly lost their life. For a couple weeks before I was in a near-fatal accident, I couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to write my will.

Chadwick... I haven't shared this story with too many people. It really was a terrifying experience. I normally scoff at this type of stuff, but the similarities with Godfather's story and my experience brought me right back to that moment.

For the longest time, I passed it off as just some weird event that my mind created for me. I wasn't drinking or high that evening- it was a non-descript, regular, sleep at my parents' home while back from a break at school. I don't know what happened there, but I wouldn't really want to go through it again. I'd shit the bed now.

    Whew- Jeanwah... brave words.

This thread has taken me from curiosity to fascination to being in stitches to having the wind knocked out of me. I'll self disclose a little here- I'm really surprised I'm alive. Lucky twice... and stupid... and these were not accidents. What I so nearly threw away.

This is why I'm fascinated by mystery. Life is so messed up but always always always around the corner is a surprise or a reason to keep looking or somebody here on the forum saying something that just makes you bust up laughing. It ain't all good... but what's good... it's good. Good to be here.

I've had a couple of things, but I'll start with the one here that has at least some sort of physical manifestation as well. I've posted this before a couple years back. As some on here know, I'm a big history geek. I love U.S. Civil War history more than anything else.

Anyway, my wife and I decided to take a trip to Gettysburg back in Feb. 2004. I had always wanted to go there, mostly for the history, but also for the experiences so many people have reported. It's quite possibly one of the most haunted places in the world. Anyway, you do get a sense of something there, and I just can't quite describe it. It's just powerful. It's weird though, because it doesn't feel like it's just because a big battle was fought there. I mean the place is just electric. They say that going back hundreds of years before the area was even settled by Europeans there was a huge Indian battle as well in that area.

So we had been touring around quite a bit on our own. My wife spent most of the time just relaxing, while I would go to areas of the battlefield that corresponded with a book I was reading. It was awesome to be reading the descriptions of the events written by the people who experienced them first hand, and actually see the same layout of the land they were describing, right down to the rocks and other features. At one point I was by Seminary Ridge and heard the distinct sound of a large caliber gun. Now, I have lived most of my live near Ft. Hood, TX and they are always doing maneuvers and firing the big guns that rattle the house windows. That's exactly what this sounded like. It wasn't a train, or machinery, it was a large gun that sounded deep and powerful. I looked around, and heard it again, along with what sounded like sporadic small arms fire. It was so odd, but I kind of just dismissed it. Then I started reading where others had heard the exact same thing, and there are theories it could be residual sounds from the battle. Crazy stuff.

Guns were nothing though. We decided to go out on the battlefield at night. So we ate dinner and went out and took our camera. I had heard of people capturing orbs in pictures, and we were just going to goof around and take some pics to see if we could pick anything up. So my wife and I are out, the moon was full, it was pretty breezy and the few clouds scattered through the sky were moving fast. We were by the High Water Mark, the furthest most breach of the Union line that the Confederates made during Longstreet's (Picket's) Charge. Suddenly the winds were still, and I started to just take some random pics. I felt like a fool honestly. So I took a couple more quick ones, and my wife and I were getting ready to move to another area of the park. I took another pic, and there was nothing. I immediately took one more and when the flash went off, it looked like something shot across from left to right directly in front of me. I looked at my view finder and my jaw just dropped...............

Needless to say, I was gone. I started booking to the car, and my wife is like "wait, what's wrong?", and I was just like, we have to go NOW!!!! I basically left her behind, which she has never let me live down since then.

You can see in the picture "something" appears to almost fly down in front of the camera as the pic is taken, and it has what appears to be a face turned towards the camera. I mean, you can almost make out wings on it, it's like it is flying down with it's head turned towards the camera. You can see what appear to be eyes, almost like what people picture and alien's eyes to look like. Definitely one of the scariest things ever, but I almost feel pissed at myself for letting the opportunity get away. I wish I would have stayed and taken other pics. But man, I just didn't think of anything except getting out of there as fast as I could.

as my brother lie in his bed something gets in bed with him
    it aint the kids
    it aint the dog
    what the fuck was that?
he does not know but something sank the bed down and felt him, nothing there but he felt pressure and something against him

    another night
    lying in bed
    something runs down the stairs
runs through the house and gets a full on charge for his bedroom
taking off running across the house into his room
and did laps in full on run mode around his bed
until he sat up in bed
stuck his foot out and tripped something.... it stopped he felt something slam into him, his leg, nothing there

    tv off bedtime
home alone or kids home i don't know
    house shut down and dark
    then... tv on and goin
he gets up and shuts it off
    back to sleep
    tv on and goin
my brother then gets up yelling at the energy"leave the fucking tv off god dammit, i gotta work tomorrow morning, gotta get up early, shit!" nothing has happened since

i believe my brother's house to be haunted. it has a odd feeling about it. rather,,,my feelings feel odd and freaked out when there

what about the hairy short little stinkin fucker? this was a run down house always rented to dopers and fuck ups.
the basement drain at some point was stuffed full of cats. in the upstairs walls someone found a secret room that was covered in spooky bullshit and was painted black.

lots of people had saw this boy sized figure completely covered in hair and supposedly this little shit stunk bad. he appeared during poker games, during tv time, whenever.

the house could not be sold. finally the city plowed it over and is now a vacant lot between houses on each side.

we were dared to spend the night in it or even just for the hell of it, go inside. we always elected, fuck off, i aint goin in there.

That's exactly what this sounded like. that is really incredibly cool!

been there 3 different times, so i know just what you mean about Gettysburg....how the intense spectral energy just seem to fill the air...like you said 'it's hard to describe.' i grew in Virginia and been to many CW battlefields...still none compare to the 'atmosphere' that surrounds Gettysburg.

as to your very cool pic...i see a solider that's actually dressed from the time period looking down onto the field; from the part of the pic you refer to as the something/being's head...that's his hat (keep moving your eyes to the left) he appears to be smoking a pipe (there's even a trail of smoke) and he has a beard. you can see his arm coming out from his body with his hand coming out of his jacket & probably something in that hand...

i can't be the only one that can see this?

It may be hard to tell, but this is how I see the pic that I took. It's not really a figure as much as it is an entity of some sort. It's like it flew right in front of me and turned it's head towards the camera just as I took the pic. I've labeled what I see.
